But since he had decided to take the fall for Sylvie, Caleb was going to have to pay the price for his own stupidity. 

Drugging someone’s food didn’t just violate school rules; it was illegal. 

Sure enough, Caleb’s parents were summoned that afternoon. When Mrs. Langdon heard her son was taking the heat for Sylvie’s mistake, her impression of the girl plummeted even further. 

However, the incident didn’t just blow over. Mrs. Gable insisted on calling the police and demanded Caleb be disciplined. Under Mrs. Langdon’s desperate pleading, they not only had to pay tens of thousands of dollars in compensation, but Caleb was also slapped with a major demerit on his permanent record. 

What did a major demerit mean during such a crucial sophomore year? 

It meant Caleb might just miss his chance at getting into his dream university. 

These days, Nova was in a fantastic mood, which gave her even more energy for her workouts. 

In the ten days since her rebirth, she had already dropped twenty pounds. 

While losing weight would only get harder from here on out, it was finally a solid start. 

With final exams approaching, all the students in the A-Track Class were studying relentlessly. Besides drilling through practice tests, they spent every waking hour memorizing textbooks. Caleb was the sole exception. Ever since the chocolate incident, he seemed to have completely given up. He spent his days sneaking out to play basketball or skipping class to go on dates with Sylvie. 

Nova wasn’t surprised in the slightest. 

Sylvie was the one that got away, the girl he had always dreamed of. Now that he finally had her, he naturally had no interest in academics. 

As for Sylvie, she probably figured she was going to marry into wealth right after graduation, so she didn’t care about studying either. 

Inside the library, Nova was buried in her books. Having been reborn, she had forgotten nearly all of her high school curriculum. If she didn’t catch up now, she would be completely doomed on the finals. 

Lindenwood Preparatory Academy had a strict rule: if a student’s total score on the final exam fell below standard, they would be forcibly transferred to a lower track. Nova calculated the numbers. To stay in the A-Track Class, she needed to score an A-average on 

this round of exams.

The sophomore finals were a massive turning point. If a student’s grades failed to meet the mark, the school might even suggest they drop out and transfer to a vocational college. It was a common tactic the administration used to keep their annual college acceptance rates pristine. 

Suddenly, someone kicked the chair across from her, causing a loud crash. 

Nova frowned. When she looked up, she saw exactly who she expected-Caleb. 

The library was always quiet, so the commotion immediately drew the attention of everyone 

around them. 

But once they realized the troublemaker was Caleb, no one dared to utter a word. 

Everyone knew better than to cross him, so they all pretended to be deaf and blind. 

“What do you want?” 

Nova was thoroughly annoyed. 

Seeing him and Sylvie acting all lovey-dovey in the classroom was irritating enough. Now she was trying to hide in the library, and his ghost was still haunting her. 

“You’re the one who pulled that stunt with the chocolates, aren’t you?” 

Caleb’s tone was heavy with accusation. 

Nova found it hilarious. “What makes you think I did it?” 

“Besides Sylvie, you’re the only one who touched those chocolates, and you’re telling me it wasn’t you?” 

Caleb’s logic left Nova utterly speechless. “Then why didn’t you suspect Sylvie? Why point the finger at me?” 

Caleb sneered in disgust. “Sylvie is gentle and kindhearted. You, on the other hand-you used her kindness to make her drown before, and now you drugged those chocolates to frame her. Nova, I never realized you were this malicious.”
