Why had I admitted that to him?
He didn’t respond to my statement, but then again I couldn’t blame him. What was there to respond to I certainly hadn’t asked a question. I could only hope he would understand what I was actually trying to say
to him. That I needed him to be patient with me. That I hadn’t imagined a future where he would want me
back in his pack, in his life. In his bed.
Hoping that the goddess would make him suffer for what he’d done to me had been the only way I’d
managed to heal. And now he was asking me to forget that. No, not just forget. To forgive him, and be
vulnerable with him. I thought pack to even I’d first trespassed into his territory. I had never even been
vulnerable in the beginning, not really. I’d given him my body, but not my heart. Not my soul.
Even then I hadn’t been able to envision a future where he chose me to rule his pack of Lycans beside him.
Was it any wonder that I was having a hard time believing this new reality? I cleared my throat, desperate
to fill the awkward silence that had descended the room. “I’m paying a visit to Mara’s pack tomorrow,” I
informed him, rising to my feet and moving to place the first aid kit back in his closet.
By the time I turned back around, he had pulled the shirt over his head. I watched as the fabric around the
wound changed from pristine white to crimson red. I’d given him a white shirt on purpose so I could
monitor how fast his wound was healing. If the shirt was still soaked in a few hours, I would have to look
at it again. Or maybe even send for Elise. She was the pack’s doctor after all.
Logan adjusted the shirt on his body, arching a full eyebrow at me. “She expecting you?” He asked. I knew
what he was really asking; if something had happened that had caused her to send for me.
I shook my head no. “Everything’s fine,” I assured him. “I just want to make sure she’s doing okay and there
hasn’t been any attacks on her cabin lately,” A small laugh bubbled out of me as I thought of Mara. “Not
what she might admit it,” I slanted a look at Logan but I could tell he wasn’t buying my attempt to change
the topic.
He caught my wrist when I tried to move. “What you said…” He began softly, “About wanting to let go of
the past…”
“I am going to forgive you, Logan,” I admitted to him. “I just need some time.” He stared at me like he

wanted to say more, but he eventually nodded and kissed the inside of my palm before gently letting go.
can do that, He replied. “I can give you time.”
I smiled softly at him. “Alright.”

My jaws slacked when Mara’s cabin came into view.
If I hadn’t been so sure of the path to her cabin, I might have doubted I was at the right place. Logan’s warriors had more than outdone themselves. The cabin looked completely different. So different, I knew they had wrecked the building totally and began reconstruction from scratch. The building was a little bigger, the wood was sturdier and more furnished, the windows had been changed.
Gratitude filled my heart at how much work Logan had put in to make sure Mara had the best place ever. Sometimes it felt like he was nothing other than a complete asshole, but then times like this revealed how thorough he could be when he’d made a decision. I walked up the distance to the front door, knowing Mara would probably be home right now, even though I hadn’t sent a message to her to pre-inform her of my
coming.
I climbed the short steps leading up to the front porch and just as I was about to knock, the door opened. I was a little startled and had to take a step back. It almost seemed like she’d known I was coming, and then I reminded myself that this was Mara. Of course she’d known. She smiled widely at me, and before I could get a word out, she was pulling me in for a hug.
“I was hoping my premonition hadn’t been wrong,” She stated before pulling away and running her gaze over me. “You look good, Sienna,” She noted, the honesty in her voice as clear as day.
“Thank you Mara,” I replied. “You don’t look too bad yourself,” She waved her hand in the air, asking me to stop with the compliments. I laughed lightly as she led me inside the cabin before asking if I wanted anything. I shook my head no, too busy taking in how much the inside of the cabin had changed since Elias and I had moved out. She noticed me taking it all in and came to sit beside me.
“I couldn’t thank Logan enough for what he did to my little space,” She sighed, scanning her face round the house herself. As though knowing the first question on my mind, she added. “And there haven’t been any break ins and attacks either. Not a single one since you guys left,” I tried to hide the guilt I felt when she brought her gaze to mine, knowing she hadn’t meant it that way. “And you?” She asked back. “How’s Elias
coping?”

“He’s doing quite well,” I replied. “We’ve not had any attacks at the pack, until just recently. A day ago to be precise, I informed her. “But it was just a single rogue attacking and Logan took care of it. Elias and I are aight,” A small frown shifted her expression, but she didn’t ask for more details.
Her ever assessing eyes scanned my face. “I have a feeling the attack isn’t why you’re here,”
I gave her a small, sad smile.
“No, it’s not.”
And then I proceeded to tell her everything that had been going on with Logan and me, and to seek her advice on how I was supposed to move on from the hurt I carried so deeply in my heart.
