The Lucan Marked Me - Chapter (77)

Chapter 77
Logan
I was supervising a few wolves moving our food supplies to the pack’s warehouse when I got informed of
the attack.
A warrior had rushed to me, letting me know a single rogue was attacking the west wing of the pack. It was the most confusing attack I’d ever been informed of. A single rogue? Rogues knew better than to attack Lycan packs on their own. Usually, they came in groups so they could gain strength from their numbers.
Two thoughts registered as I followed the warrior to the west wing. One, the rogue was not the person I was supposed to worry about. Someone that stupid couldn’t have successfully wielded an attack on Sienna and Elias while they’d been at Mara’s pack. Someone that dumb could not possibly be the mastermind for
whatever storm was coming. Two, the attack was a warning of sorts.
I’d easily realized how much the mastermind behind the attacks loved to play games. The notes, turning
my own pack members against me… it was all a subtle way to assert whatever dominance and upper hand he thought he had. It was sad this particular rogue had been chosen as the sacrificial lamb. When we
arrived at the west wing, the sight before me caused me to see red.
A few of my warriors were holding him down, but it was obvious he’d had the time to do some damages. Most of the shops in the pack had been torn apart, a few wolves had been injured, if the howling was any indication. I marched towards the rogue, raising my hand and signalling my warriors to let go of him. A
second later, the bastard proved he was even dumber than I’d thought.
Before I could blink, he was taking off and trying to escape. I shifted, taking off right after him. The part of
me that loved the thrill of the chase was grateful he had posed a challenge. I let him think he was running
fast enough, and then finally when I was sick of the entire bullshit I caught up to him, lifting my wolf high
up in the air and bringing myself on top of him, successfully pinning him to the ground.
He writhed beneath me, claws slashing and jaws snapping in wild desperation. A moment later, we lost
balance, and his bulk dragged us both over the edge of the slope. We tumbled hard, crashing through
bushes and dead leaves.
I kept my grip on his wolf form, fiercely refusing to let go. We rolled violently down the slope of the forest,
and I couldn’t care less what path we took. Pain exploded through my side as my body slammed into a
jagged boulder, its rough surface tearing through my fur. My growl echoed loudly in the silence of the

forest.
Noticed the splintered branch jutting out like a jagged stake from the ground ahead.
Snarling, I twisted my weight and slammed my shoulder into him, driving his body toward the sharp edge.
My side screamed in pain as I rammed him hard. The branch speared through his chest with a sickening
crack, piercing deep into his heart. His howl was sharp for a second, and then it cut off completely as he
crumpled, lifeless and still.
I staggered back, panting hard, blood dripping down my side. I looked at the lifeless body in front of me The rogue’s frame hung limp on the makeshift stake, fur dark with blood.
Good, I thought.
Let them see this. Let it be a warning that any threat to my pack would meet the same end.
I made my way back to the pack, immediately heading for the mansion. I didn’t want to frighten my pack members with the sight of my injury. I already knew they would be worried enough as it was by what the rogue’s attack meant. More than that, I wanted to change into fresh clothes before Sienna came back to the mansion with Elias. She’d informed me they were going to take a walk around the east border of the pack.
I pushed my bedroom doors open and immediately headed straight for my bathroom, stepping in and hissing as the rush of water stung the open injury.
I braced my hand against the wall, letting all the dirt and blood wash away before properly having a wash. I wasn’t bothered by the injury. It was deeper than I’d expected, but I knew I would only take a few minutes for it to completely close up. I’d just pulled on some pants when Sienna walked into my bedroom.
A shocked gasp escaped her when she caught the wound at my side. She was at my side in the next second. “I got the news about what happened,” She stated, hurriedly moving to my closet and pulling out the first aid kit tucked in a corner. I tried to wave her off as she approached me with it, but she slapped my hand
away.
“Where’s Elias?” I asked as she gently steered me to the edge of the bed.
“With Mara downstairs,” She replied easily. “We bumped into her on our way here,” She added.
I hissed when she poured some kind of liquid onto the wound before applying some other powdered stuff
into it. I pressed my lips together, watching her as she worked. If she was aware of my gaze, she didn’t

show it. We hadn’t really spoken since the previous night. The only time she’d acknowledged me at all
today was when she was letting me know she was going to take Elias on a walk around the east wing.
I wondered if she was still pissed that I’d refused to have sex with her.
She finished up with placing a gauze on the wound and then handed me a loose t-shirt she’d gotten from the closet. As though she was following my line of thought, she raised her head so she could meet my eyes/
“I do want to forgive you and forget the past,” She whispered, holding my gaze before breaking eye contact.
“I’m just not sure how.”
