door rather than just walking in whenever he knew I was in the house, just so he could watch me let him
let him in. Not that I was complaining. I pulled the glass door open, immediately noticing the way he had
his hands behind his back.
I arched an eyebrow at him as Elías moved to hug me before standing to the side and excitedly bouncing his gaze between Logan and me. I couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped my lips. “What’s going on?” I
asked carefully, but I was smiling widely. I had a feeling I already knew.
Logan brought his hands in front of him, handing me a medium sized box. I furrowed my eyebrows at him. The box was quite heavy. “You got me something?” I asked, even though I was literally holding the answer
in my hands.
Still, he nodded, jerking his head in the direction of the staircase leading upstairs. “Go check it out,” He said, reaching for Elias’s hands and taking him to the kitchen to probably get a glass of water. Unable to hide my grin, I turned to make my way up the stairs. A small blush stained my cheeks when Maurie walked out of the kitchen. We’d made an arrangement to shop for groceries together, and I’d almost forgotten she
was even in the house.
I patted the box, trying to act cool. “I’ll just unbox this and then we’ll be on our way,” I said to her.
She smiled, waving her hand about in the air. “Oh, you take your sweet time. I’ll be down here when you’re
ready,” Giving her a small grateful nod, I hurriedly made my way to my room. I nudged the door shut with my foot, set the box down on the dressing table, and tore into the gift wrap without a second thought. I
opened the lid of the box, and…
Woah.
He had bought me books.
And not the serious kind about werewolf history I absolutely disliked reading. He’d bought me more
nonfiction romance. I set the lid down and looked through all five books. How had he known to get me
this? I almost screamed for joy when I realized one of the books was a sequel to the book I was currently
reading.
“Do you like it?” A familiar voice sounded at my room door, startling me. I turned to find Logan leaning
against the doorframe, his legs crossed at his ankles and his hands tucked into the front pocket of his
jeans.
Like it?

I laughed, setting the books back into the box. “I love it,” I said honestly, giving him a bright smile that
immediately made him smile in return. “How did you know to get me these?” I asked out of curiosity.
He shrugged his broad shoulders, taking a single step into the room. “I don’t kiss and tell,” He said
teasingly. Shaking my head at him, I closed the distance between us and stood on my tiptoes to give him a
kiss. His hands were immediately out of his pockets and at my waist.
“Thank you,” I said to him after pulling back.
I turned my head when he tried to kiss me again, lightly patting his chest. “Mara is downstairs waiting for
me,” I informed him, putting some distance between us even though I wanted nothing more than to give
myself to him and lose myself in the moment. “I’ve kept her waiting for long enough,” I added
apologetically.
He leaned forward, kissing my nose instead.
“Fine,” He huffed, exiting my room. He paused by the door and turned to me. “I’ll still be here when you get
back.”
The silent promise in his tone echoed in my mind long after he was gone.
