Chapter 316 The Wolf Who Made Us Kneel
Lady Flourish POV
My knee hit the ground before I understood what had happened.

The force pressing through the settlement was not Damian’s Alpha aura or anything I had ever felt from another wolf.
It came through the wards, through the stone beneath my boots, and straight into my blood. My wolf lowered her head without asking me.
Around me, Rhys and the Dartwood warriors were in the same position. Even Callum had one hand against the ground, his jaw tight as he fought to stay upright.
Damian was beside me, one knee down and his other foot planted firmly, his shoulders tense. His wolf pushed against the force, but neither of them could break free.
“Flourish,” he said through clenched teeth. “Don’t fight it too hard.”
I looked at him. “You think I have a choice?”
His mouth tightened.
The pressure increased for a few seconds, then stopped. That was when I understood something was different.
If whoever was inside wanted to hurt us, they could have done it already. Instead, the force had made us kneel and then held us there.
My wolf lifted her head.
“Blood.”
I swallowed and focused on the strange pull inside my chest. It was not fear. It felt more like recognition, though I had no memory attached to it.
The woman from the room had been watching us from behind the doorway.
Now she stepped outside.
She wore a dark jacket, worn boots, and no pack insignia. Her hair fell around her face, and for one strange second, seeing her standing there felt like looking at an older version of myself.
Her eyes moved over the group before settling on me.

The pressure eased. I put one hand against the ground and forced myself upright.
Damian reached for me immediately.

“I’m fine.”
“I know.”
He still kept his hand around my arm until I was fully standing. The woman watched him, then looked back at me.
“You’re stronger than I expected.”
“I’ve had practice.”
A small smile touched her mouth, but it disappeared quickly.
She took one step closer.
“Do you remember the name your father used when he wanted you to stop crying?”
My breath caught.
There were very few memories of my childhood that belonged only to me. Garret had controlled almost everything about my upbringing, including the things I was allowed to remember.
I stared at her.
“What did you say?”
She repeated it.
“Little Star.”
The room inside me seemed to go quiet.
Garret had called me that when I was very young. I had not heard the name in years. My mother used to laugh whenever he said it because I hated being treated like a child.
I could almost hear his voice saying it from the doorway of my old room, back when I was small enough to believe my father could protect me from anything.
The memory was incomplete, but it was real. No one outside my family knew that name. No one should have been able to use it now..
I looked at the woman again.

“How do you know that?”
“Because I was there.”
My fingers tightened around Damian’s sleeve.
“You remember?”
“I remember enough.”
She walked closer, and this time my wolf did not warn me away. Instead, she moved toward the surface.
“Her.”
I took another step.
Damian’s hand tightened around mine.
The woman noticed.
“You still trust him.”
“Yes.”
“You shouldn’t make that decision so easily.”
I frowned. “Why?”
“Because trust was what got our family into trouble.”
Callum finally pushed himself fully upright. His face had gone pale.
“Amara.”
She looked at him.
“You know me.”
“I know the name.”
“You knew my father.”
Callum did not answer immediately. That silence told me more than his words could have.
I turned toward him. “How much did you know?”

“Not enough.”
“That isn’t an answer.”
“I knew there had been another child. I didn’t know where she was. I was told she had been taken away for protection.”
Amara gave a quiet laugh.
“That’s what they told everyone.”
Her tone carried no amusement. Damian moved slightly closer to me.
“Why bring us here?”
Amara looked at him.
“I didn’t.”
The words made us all pause.
“What?”
“I didn’t make the settlement respond to you. The bloodline did.”
She looked at me.
“You came close enough for it to recognize you.”
My wolf stirred again.
“Recognize me as what?”
Amara’s face changed.
“As the first vessel.”
I stared at her.
“You said I was the heir.”
“You are.”
“Then why did the bloodline force everyone to kneel?”
“Because it was responding to both of us.”

Her answer made Damian look toward the old wards.
“Both vessels?”
Amara nodded.
“For years, the network was asleep. It did not respond to anyone because neither vessel was close enough to activate it.”
I glanced at the carved lines along the walls.
“So this wasn’t a trap.”
“No.”
“Then what was it?”
“A test.”
The word made Damian’s wolf growl.
Amara noticed.
“Your mate doesn’t like that answer.”
“He doesn’t like many things.”
Damian looked at me.
“That is not true.”
I almost smiled.
Amara watched us for another moment.
“You came here together.”
“Yes.”
“And
“Yes.”
you trusted him enough to let him stand beside you when the bloodline awakened.”
She nodded slowly.
“Then perhaps Garret was wrong.”

My smile disappeared.
“About what?”
“About keeping us apart.”
The air changed again.
I stepped closer.
“What did he think would happen if we met?”
Amara looked at the ground for a moment.
“He was afraid we would become stronger together.”
“And were you?”
Her eyes met mine.
“I don’t know.”
The answer bothered me more than a warning would have. I had spent months learning what my bloodline could do, but every discovery revealed another part I had never been taught. My sister stood in front of me, carrying secrets Garret had buried before either of us understood
them.
A low sound came from the woods.
Every wolf in the group reacted.
Damian turned immediately, his eyes changing as his wolf came forward. Rhys reached for his weapon while Callum moved toward the doorway.
Amara did not move.
“Don’t.”
Damian looked at her.
“They’re here.”
“Who?”
Her gaze stayed on the trees.

“The people who have been looking for me.”
My wolf rose sharply.

Amara’s expression hardened.
“Enough to know that the moment you arrived, they knew.”
The wards around the settlement began to glow again. This time, they were not holding us
down.
They were warning us.
And somewhere beyond the trees, wolves started howling.
