I Refuse To Be Your Luna

Chapter 332 Flourish Promotion

Lady Flourish POV

I stayed at my desk while Cheryl and Rhys kept going through the vendor records.

We had barely finished discussing the suspicious payments when a message arrived requesting my presence at a meeting with representatives of the First Alpha Bloodline Network.

I read it twice before looking up. “Who else has been invited?”

“Representatives from several participating packs,” Rhys said. “Callum has confirmed he’ll attend, and Damian is already on his way.”

I closed the investigation files and pushed them aside. We still had questions about the payments moving through companies connected to F–Tech, but ignoring a meeting of pack leaders wouldn’t help me understand what was happening inside the network.

“Cheryl, keep tracing those payments while we’re gone.”

“I’ll keep working on the vendor connections and update you the moment I have something

concrete.”

“Don’t contact anyone yet.”

“Understood.”

I picked up my tablet and followed Rhys out. In the elevator he kept glancing at me.

“What?”

“Nothing.”

“Rhys.”

“It’s unusual, that’s all. The network doesn’t summon people on short notice unless something has already been decided.”

“That’s not comforting.”

“It wasn’t meant to be.”

The meeting was in one of the conference rooms reserved for the network’s participating packs.

Several representatives were already seated when we arrived. Most kept their Alpha auras under

control, but I could still feel the difference in strength and rank, especially when one of the older Alphas turned his head toward me. My wolf stayed alert and steady.

Damian stood near the far end of the table, talking quietly with Callum. He stopped when he saw me, and his expression eased for a second before he turned back to the room. I took the seat beside him.

“Did anyone tell you what this is about?” I asked under my breath.

“Only that they want to discuss the network’s leadership. Callum knows a little more, but he wanted to hear them out before drawing conclusions.”

I looked at my uncle. Callum gave me a small nod and sat down as the oldest representative cleared his throat and called the meeting to order.

“Thank you for coming on short notice.” He was a gray–haired Alpha with a voice that carried without effort, and the room settled the moment he spoke. “Some of you already know why we’re here. For those who don’t, I’ll be direct. The network has gone eight months without a functioning head of operations. Our last appointee resigned when the attacks began, and since then every decision has been argued over by committee.”

A younger Alpha across from me muttered, “Argued is generous.”

“Quite. Which is why this council voted yesterday to fill the position.”

Damian’s attention sharpened. “Voted,” he said evenly. “Without the full network present.”

“With a clear majority. Alpha Damian, you were informed.”

“After the fact.”

“Not everyone agreed,” said a heavyset Alpha near the window, “but the numbers were there.”

Nobody answered that. Representatives shifted in their seats, and Callum’s jaw tightened, though he said nothing. I looked at him.

He didn’t look back. He had known more than he’d told us, and we would be discussing that later.

“Who did you choose?” I asked, keeping my voice level. Whatever this was, I wasn’t going to react until I knew what I was reacting to.

The old Alpha studied me for a long moment. “That depends on whether she accepts.”

Several heads turned toward me. Behind my chair, Rhys went very still.

“She?”

“We considered many candidates, Lady Flourish. We needed someone with real standing in the business world, someone the packs trust and the merchants and vendors who fund this network take seriously.”

“And someone who has survived what the rest of us haven’t,” a woman at the end of the table added. “Three attacks on F–Tech, and you’re still standing.”

I almost laughed. “You want me to run the network.”

“We want you to lead its operations. Every contract, every funding channel, every pack’s security arrangement would pass through your office.”

Every vendor record, too. Every payment trail, every file Cheryl was tracing at that very moment. Whoever sat in that chair would see all of it. I thought of the folder on my desk and wondered whether the timing was an accident.

Damian leaned toward me. “You don’t have to answer today.”

“I know.”

“Then don’t let them rush you.”

“That’s a great deal of power for one person,” I said to the room.

“It is,” the old Alpha agreed. He folded his hands on the table, and for the first time his composure slipped. “Which is why the council felt you should hear something before you answer. About how the last appointee left.”

“You said he resigned.”

“That’s what we told everyone.” He held my eyes. “He didn’t.”

Beside me, Damian went completely still.

Chapter 333 The Wolf Behind The Contract

Lady Flourish POV

Damian and Callum were still discussing my decision when my phone rang. Eugene’s name appeared on the screen, and I answered immediately.

“Flourish, I need you to come to F–Tech,” he said. “I’ve found something in the old bloodline agreements, and you need to see it yourself.”

“What did you find?”

“I’d rather explain when you get here. Bring Callum if he’s with you.”

I looked at my uncle. “Eugene found something in the old agreements.”

Callum’s expression changed, though he tried to hide it. Damian noticed too.

“Which agreements?” Callum asked.

“He didn’t say.”

“Then we should go.”

His quick response caught my attention, but I didn’t question him. I informed Eugene that we were on our way and left the meeting room with Damian and Callum.

By the time we reached F–Tech, Eugene was waiting in my office with several documents spread across the conference table. He had also brought up a scanned copy of an old agreement on his laptop.

“Show me,” I said as I took a seat.

Eugene pointed to a section near the bottom of the document. The original agreement had been signed by representatives of several packs that formed part of the First Alpha Bloodline Network.

Its language was older than the contracts we used today, but the terms had been preserved in the network’s archives.

“This clause concerns the appointment of an outside representative,” he explained. “Under certain conditions, that person can temporarily control the network’s operations.”

I read the paragraph twice.

“Control the operations how?”
