Chapter 346 Overseas Signal
Lady Flourish POV

Amara had only just left the sitting room when my phone rang. I was still thinking about her decision to stay when the F-Tech security alert appeared on my screen.
Rhys was calling from the communications room.
“Flourish, I need you here. We’ve received an encrypted distress signal through one of the bloodline network channels.”
I stood immediately. “From which pack?”
“We’re still verifying the source. The signal contains coordinates and a request for medical evacuation. It’s coming through an overseas connection.”
“I’ll be there in five minutes.”
Damian was in the corridor when I stepped out.
He took one look at my face and followed me without asking me to explain everything along the way.
Amara had come out of her room too, but I told her we needed to handle an urgent situation and would update her when we knew more.
At F-Tech, Rhys had the signal displayed on the main screen. Two communications officers were checking the transmission while another worked to trace its route through the network.
“Play it,” I said.
A burst of static came through the speakers, followed by a distorted voice. The speaker sounded exhausted, and the transmission broke several times before ending.
“Medical evacuation requested. Coordinates attached. Bloodline channel compromised. We cannot hold this location much longer.”
The recording ended before the officers could extract anything else.
“Was that the complete message?” Damian asked.
“Yes,” Rhys replied. “The transmission was short, but it carried a location packet. We’re checking the coordinates against our records.”
I moved closer to the screen. “Can you confirm the sender belongs to one of the overseas packs

connected to the network?”

“Not yet. The channel uses an old authentication method, and the signal was routed through several relays. We have a valid network marker, but we need to verify the source before treating it as proof of identity.”
That distinction mattered. The network had been compromised before, and we had already found supposedly dead wolves accessing dormant systems. A valid marker could have been copied.
“Keep the signal isolated,” I instructed. “Don’t let it connect to any active pack system until we’ve checked it.”
Rhys nodded and opened the location packet. The coordinates pointed to a remote area outside the main settlement of an overseas pack whose details were stored in our bloodline archive.
The name appeared on the screen, and I recognized it from the records we had reviewed earlier.
“That’s one of the independent packs,” I said. “They agreed to maintain a channel with us, but they aren’t under Stonehedge or Dartwood authority.”
“Which means we can’t simply send a patrol and expect them to cooperate,” Damian said.
“Correct. We need to establish contact with their Alpha or whoever is authorized to speak for them.”
Rhys tried the pack’s registered emergency line. The call rang without an answer. He tried the secondary contact, then checked the last recorded status of the channel.
“No response,” he said. “Their line was active during the last scheduled check, but that was several weeks ago.”
“Could the distress signal have come from someone who doesn’t have permission to use the channel?” Damian asked.
“Yes. We can’t rule that out yet.”
I examined the coordinates again. The request specifically asked for medical evacuation, which meant someone could be seriously injured or unable to leave the location without help.
If we spent too long trying to prove the sender’s identity, we could lose the chance to help them.
But sending a team into an unknown location without confirming who was waiting there could put more wolves in danger.

“Can we identify the terrain around the coordinates?” I asked.

One of the officers brought up the available mapping data. The location sat outside the pack’s main settlement, in an area with limited access routes. The records did not tell us whether the sender was inside a building, near a road, or somewhere farther into the surrounding territory.
“Do we have any recent activity from that pack’s channel?” I asked Rhys.
He searched the logs. “There were two brief connection attempts in the last forty-eight hours. Neither carried a message, and both ended before we could trace the source.”
“Were they made through the same relay?”
“One was. The other used a different route.”
Damian folded his arms. “Someone could be testing the channel before sending a false distress call.”
“Or the pack has been trying to reach us and hasn’t been able to maintain a connection,” I replied. “We need to investigate both possibilities.”
I asked Rhys to prepare a response that would request a second authentication code without exposing our active systems. If the sender was genuine, they might still be able to respond. If someone had copied the channel marker, the extra check could help us separate the real contact from an imitation.
The reply went out through the isolated line.
We waited while the communications team monitored the channel. No response came at first.
Rhys checked the relay status, then adjusted the receiver to capture any weak transmission that might have been lost in the interference.
“There’s movement,” one officer announced.
A new packet had arrived, but it contained no second authentication code. Instead, the coordinates had been sent again, along with a short line of text.
“Evacuation required immediately. Multiple wounded. No safe route out.”
I read it twice. The message still did not prove who had sent it, but the mention of multiple wounded made the situation more urgent.
“Can we get a medical team ready while verification continues?” I asked.
“Yes,” Rhys replied. “We can prepare one without committing them to the coordinates yet.”

“Do that. Find out which nearby allied pack can provide support if we need a second team. Keep the response limited to people who need to know.”
Damian looked at me. “If this is genuine, we may not have much time.”
“I know. But we won’t send people in blind. We prepare the evacuation team, keep trying to authenticate the sender, and work out the safest approach as soon as we have enough information.”
He gave a short nod and began contacting Dartwood’s medical coordinator.
I stayed beside Rhys while the team continued monitoring the signal. The request had come through a channel designed to connect packs that operated independently of one another.
Someone on the other side had chosen to use it despite the risk of exposing their location.
Then the receiver sounded again.
The new transmission contained the authentication code we had requested.
Rhys checked it against the archived record. His face changed as the system returned its result.
“The code is valid,” he said. “It matches the registered channel.”
I looked at the coordinates on the screen.
“Then prepare the evacuation team,” I said. “We’re going to find out who’s waiting for us.

“Then prepare the evacuation team,” I said. “We’re going to find out who’s waiting for us.”
Rhys began issuing instructions while Damian moved closer to the screen displaying the overseas coordinates.

I asked F-Tech’s security team to confirm the location again and check the authentication code against every record available to us.
The signal had come through a valid channel, but I wasn’t willing to send people into unfamiliar territory based on a message alone.
“Have we received anything from the pack’s Alpha?” Damian asked.
“Nothing yet,” Rhys replied. “We’ve tried the registered contact numbers and the emergency line listed in our records. Neither has responded.”
I studied the coordinates and the limited information attached to the transmission. The territory belonged to a pack I knew almost nothing about, despite the fact that its bloodline records appeared in the same archive that had led us to Amara.
Until that moment, I had thought the network was something our family had maintained across the packs closest to us.
“Pull every record connected to this location,” I told Rhys. “I want to know when the pack first entered the network, who registered it, and whether we’ve ever provided assistance there.”
He returned to his workstation. Damian remained beside me, reading through the available information while I opened the archived network map.
Several entries were incomplete, and some contained only an old pack name, a date, and a code that no longer matched our current system.
The overseas pack appeared in a section marked inactive. Its last recorded contact had been years ago, but the entry did not say the pack had withdrawn. It only showed that routine communication had stopped.
“Why would a pack this far away be connected to our records?” Damian asked.
“I don’t know yet.” I enlarged the map. “But someone knew which channel to use when they needed help. That means the connection survived, even if we stopped checking on it.”
Rhys brought up another screen. He had found references to other packs beyond the territories
