I was halfway through reviewing the bloodline protocol when Damian called and told me to come to the old storage building.
He didn’t explain much over the phone, only that the hidden chamber beneath the estate contained records connected to our family.
I closed my laptop, informed Rhys that I was leaving the office, and drove back to the estate.
When I arrived, the entrance had been secured. Two Dartwood warriors stood outside while Jessa waited near the steps leading underground.
“Where’s Damian?” I asked.
“Below, with the archive team.”
I followed her down. Damian was examining a collection of papers beside the metal cabinet.
He looked up as I entered, and I noticed the tension in his jaw.
“You should see these,” he said.
He moved aside so I could examine the documents. Several pages had been damaged by moisture, but the archive team had recovered enough information to identify the people involved.
I read the first name twice.
“An old Stonehedge healer?”
Damian nodded. “Rhys found a matching entry in the pack’s historical records. He was attached to Stonehedge’s medical unit before he died.”
I returned to the page. The healer’s name appeared beside several dates, along with notes about medical examinations conducted on children with unusual bloodline traits.
Most of the entries were brief, but one record mentioned two female children from the same family.
My fingers tightened around the edge of the paper.
“Both of us,” I said.

The document didn’t use our names, but the dates matched the period when Amara and I were separated.
Another entry referred to the First Alpha bloodline and instructed the healer to maintain separate records for each child.
Someone had known about both sisters. I read the passage again, hoping I had misunderstood it. I hadn’t.
“Did this healer work for my father?” I asked.
“We don’t know,” Damian replied. “His Stonehedge records show that he had access to restricted medical files, but we haven’t found evidence that Garret hired him or gave him instructions.”
I looked toward the three narrow beds. The room had already been disturbing before I knew what the papers contained.
Now I had to consider that someone connected to Stonehedge had examined children like us here, possibly while our family believed we were safe.
“Was he involved in taking Amara away?”
“We can’t prove that from these records. He may have treated her, documented her bloodline, or helped arrange the transfer. We need the remaining files.”
I handed the page to the archive specialist and asked him to scan every readable section before anyone handled the documents again.
“Has Rhys found anything else?”
Damian checked his phone. “He’s tracing the healer’s records now.”
We waited while the team continued its work. I examined the markings on the wall, comparing the dates with the information we already had about Amara’s separation.
Some dates matched, but the records were incomplete, and I refused to turn a possibility into a conclusion simply because I wanted answers.
My phone vibrated with a message from Rhys.
He had found the healer’s death record. The man had died several years ago, and his official file had been closed.
There was no indication that the pack had investigated his private records after his death.
A second message followed.

The healer had one surviving relative who was still listed in the family register. That person had not worked for Stonehedge and had no recorded connection to the bloodline network.
I showed Damian the messages.
“Can Rhys contact them?” I asked.
“He’s checking the details first. We don’t know whether this relative has the records or even knows what the healer was involved in.”
I looked down at the papers again. “But they may know where he kept the rest.”
“That’s what we’re hoping.”
The archive specialist approached us with another document. Most of it concerned routine medical procedures, but the final section referred to records removed from the healer’s office shortly before his death.
There was no inventory of the missing material, only a note that the files had been transferred out of the medical archive.
“Transferred to whom?” I asked.
“There’s no recipient listed,” he replied. “The reference ends there.”
I felt frustration rising, but I kept reading. The healer had known both sisters existed, had recorded information about our bloodline, and had access to documents that were now missing. Even after finding him, we were still left with another unanswered question.
“Could the relative have received the files?” I asked.
“It’s possible,” Damian said. “But we shouldn’t assume that until we speak to them.”
I nodded. He was right. We had already spent too much time trying to reconstruct decisions from incomplete records.
I wouldn’t accuse a stranger of hiding information simply because they shared a family name with a dead healer.
Rhys called a few minutes later. He had verified the surviving relative’s identity through two independent records, but he had not contacted them yet.
“Send a discreet request for a meeting,” I told him. “Don’t mention Amara or the bloodline in the first message. Tell them we’re investigating the healer’s professional records and need their help locating missing documents.”
Rhys agreed to handle it. I asked him to keep the contact details restricted until we knew

whether the relative was willing to cooperate.
When the call ended, Damian took my hand.
“If they know something, we’ll find out.”
I looked at him. “And if they don’t?”
“Then we keep searching.”
I wanted a more certain answer, but there wasn’t one to give.

The healer was dead, the files were missing, and the person who might help us had not yet agreed to speak.
I returned my attention to the document bearing the dates of our examinations.
At the bottom of the page, beneath the healer’s signature, was a reference number that did not appear anywhere else in the recovered records.
I copied it into my phone.
We had found someone who knew both sisters existed. Now we had to find out what he had done with that knowledge, and who had received the records he left behind.
