My Sister’s Punishment, My Billionaire Prize - Chapter (17)

I was only nine years old at the time. After talking with this five or six-year-old child for ages, all I could learn was that her name was Olivia.
So I took her hand and led her back to my place.
The “home” the Parkers had arranged for me in Vermont was just a thatched cottage.
I couldn’t figure out how to use the clay stove, so I gathered some large stones to make a simple fire pit where I could cook wild vegetables every day.
But suddenly having Olivia meant there wasn’t enough food for both of us.
So I always gave her the vegetables first, and after she was full, I’d drink the remaining broth to barely fill my own stomach.
Fortunately, though Olivia looked delicate, when hungry, she’d eat anything.
I took care of her for three days.
On the fourth day, her family finally found us.
Mrs. Blackwood was endlessly grateful. Seeing me living alone in that cottage, she assumed I was an orphan and wanted to take me back to Boston as her adopted daughter, but I refused.
I said:
“My brother promised he’d come for me soon,”
When she heard I had a brother, Mrs. Blackwood dropped the adoption idea.
But Olivia really liked me and insisted on spending time with me.
As luck would have it, Mrs. Blackwood noticed some drawings hanging on my wall and suggested Olivia learn painting from me.
This satisfied Olivia’s wishes while also providing me with a bit of money.
Though my clothes were clean, my sleeves were obviously too short. Summer was manageable, but winter would be cold.
At nine years old, I hadn’t thought that far ahead. I was just happy to have a little sister to paint with and some money to buy food, so I agreed.
And so Olivia studied painting with me for five years.
Later, the Blackwood family moved abroad for business, and we gradually lost touch.
I never imagined that little Livvy was the Blackwood heiress Amber had pushed down the stairs!
Seeing that I finally recognized her, Olivia smiled with delight, but I grew more confused.
I’d heard that when the Blackwood heiress was pushed, she bled profusely, with doctors and nurses filling the hall for emergency care. So why did Olivia look completely unharmed now?
Olivia noticed my confusion and explained with a smile:
“Actually, that whole incident was a setup. We did it to legitimately get you out of the Parker house.”
།
It turned out that after returning to the United States, Olivia immediately went back to that villagg looking for me.
But by then, I had already been taken back to the Parker house.
After much inquiry, Olivia finally learned about my situation. She was furious, wanting nothing more than to rescue me from that den of wolves.
Bu since I was a Parker, she had no legitimate reason to take me away.
Moreover, according to what Olivia had discovered, I still clung to illusions about my family, making it even less likely I would leave with her.
So after lengthy discussions with her family, they finally came up with a plan.
Olivia would deliberately provoke Amber, then pretend to be pushed down the stairs.
“But the stairs are so high-what if you’d really gotten hurt?” I couldn’t help but worry.
Olivia gave a smug smile:
“Don’t let my delicate appearance fool you. I’ve had training, and we took all the necessary safety precautions beforehand.”
“Look at me now-not a scratch!”
I couldn’t help laughing at Olivia’s boundless energy, but thinking about what came next darkened my expression:
“So you guys guessed from the beginning that the Parkers would send me as Amber’s replacement?” Apparently, everyone could see that I was just a disposable scapegoat in the Parker household The only fool still dreaming of regaining family love was me.
Seeing my spirits visibly sink, Olivia quickly explained:
“Violet, please don’t be angry.”
She forcefully shoved the silent Blackwood family head who had been standing nearby: “Alexander Blackwood, this is all your fault! What a terrible plan!”
Then she pushed him toward me:
“Violet, it was all my brother’s idea. If you’re mad, hit him instead!”
Whether Olivia pushed too hard or Alexander wasn’t steady on his feet, he stumbled right into me.
A fresh, clean cologne scent enveloped me as Alexander gently caught my waist, holding me securely against him.
Once we were steady, I heard the sound of shattering porcelain behind me.
I’d nearly been hit by a falling vase.
“Are you alright?”
