Robert Parker was my father-the man who had married into the family and taken my mother’s 

surname. 

I’d heard that when my mother wanted to marry him, her family strongly disapproved. After all, Robert was barely more than a street thug without even a college degree.

Despite allowing him to marry in, my grandparents had taken precautions, establishing a will that ensured all Parker assets remained separate from Robert, and explicitly barring him from taking over the company.

My jaw dropped in disbelief, though I couldn’t form any words to argue. 

Although my time at the Parker house had been brief, I knew my father rarely came home, sometimes not appearing for an entire month when he was “busy.” 

My mother had complained occasionally, but Amber always defended him: “The company needs a lot of attention, and Daddy works so hard for all of us.” 

Looking back now, my father wasn’t working overtime at the office he was likely spending every day with his mistress. 

I quickly made the connection to Amber’s age-she was only two years younger than me. 

That meant she had been born even before my mother’s second pregnancy.

Thinking about this, I couldn’t help asking: “Do the other Parkers know about this yet?” Olivia raised her eyebrows with satisfaction: “They will very soon.”
