Mason beat Caleb to within an inch of his life before dragging him back to Shadowmire Manor. 

The Matriarch, Eleanor Blackwood, sat rigidly on the sofa. In her fury, she swept her cane across 

the coffee table, sending teacups shattering to the floor. 

She glared at my sister, Ava. “Is this how you control your man?” 

Ava knelt in the middle of the room, shaking violently, not daring to utter a word. 

Mason, still seething, delivered another brutal kick to Caleb’s stomach. Caleb coughed, his mouth 

full of blood. 

“Mason… it was her… she seduced me…’ 

Before he could finish the lie, Mason’s fist connected with his face. “You’re still lying? I heard 

everything!” 

When Caleb had first approached me, I’d discreetly dialed Mason’s number. I hadn’t been sure he’d come for me, but I was certain he wouldn’t stand for his own brother assaulting the future Luna. 

The Matriarch was equally appalled by her son’s actions. She ordered the guards to throw Caleb into the clan’s underground prison, The Keep. 

As his wife, held responsible for failing to control him, Ava was locked up with him. Their sentence 

was seven days. 

I let out a quiet sigh of relief. That bought me seven days free from their harassment. Seven days to focus on “training” Mason undisturbed.
