A punch landed on my jaw, snapping my head to the side.
I spat the blood out from my mouth, bracing myself for the next throw of Kael’s fist. I was
distracted, which was the only reason he was able to get any punches in in the first place. As
much as Cassian and him had kept the news of my finding Sienna to themselves, it still felt
like everyone knew about it.
I could have sworn that she was everywhere.
I’d survived on my own for a while, and now she was suddenly the first person I thought of
when I woke up and the last person I thought of when I went to sleep. It had been two days
since I’d been to the pack she was residing in, and only five hours since I’d thrown caution to
the wind and sent my warriors out in search of more information.
I wanted to know everything she’d been up to in the last five years. How she’d managed to lay
low in the pack for so long, who she was living with… If there was any male she was involved
with. A tight feeling settled in my chest and I took a mad swing at Kael, cursing underneath
my breath when I missed. If there were then he was dead.
No one was allowed to touch what was mine.
“You’re distracted,” Kael said, lowering his fists. His stormy gray eyes narrowed, scanning me
with the precision of a seasoned warrior. I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand, the
sting in my jaw a welcome distraction from the chaos in my mind. I ignored his comment,
knowing he was spoiling for a conversation. One I wasn’t ready to have.
“Again,” I growled, raising my fists.
I clenched my jaws when he didn’t move, knowing I couldn’t strike him if he wasn’t actively

sparring. He crossed his arms, his frame casting a shadow over me. “Logan, this isn’t training. You’re punishing yourself.” I let out a huff of air from my nose in irritation, walking to the side to pick up a bottle of water and downing the content in one go. Punishing myself? I
scoffed inwardly. He had no idea what he was talking about.

I wasn’t nearly punishing myself enough for what I’d done to her. What I was still going to do; because I knew whether she liked it or not, I was going to ensure she returned to the pack. I didn’t care if it was going to be against her will. And that alone explained what a selfish bastard I was. I crushed the plastic bottle in my hand, throwing it to the side and walking back
up to Kael. I clenched my fists tighter, the leather of my gloves creaking.
“I need to stay sharp.” I informed him, going back to my form.
“No, you need to talk.”
I held his eyes, trying to figure out how serious he was about having the conversation. The
silence stretched between us as he folded his arms across his chest. Finally, I exhaled, the
weight on my chest pressing harder. “I want her back in the pack,” I said lowly. His eyebrows
drew together, uncertain of my decision. He already knew who I was talking about.
He pressed his lips together, choosing his words carefully. “There’s a lot at stake than just wanting her back in the pack. If she doesn’t turn outâ”
“I don’t care,” I cut in, giving him a look that immediately made him go silent. I had never let
any member of the Inner Circle question my decision, and I wasn’t about to start now. I was
already giving them too much leverage by involving them as much as I did recently. I carefully
took off my gloves, making sure he heard the fierce determination in my voice.
“I don’t care whether or not she’s the one the prophecy spoke of. I am making sure she returns
to the pack, and that’s it.” And then against my will, I added, “I can’t have anyone figuring out
our connection to each other and trying to use it against the pack.” Even though it wasn’t
entirely the reason I wanted Sienna back, I knew it was the most logical.

Kael obviously thought so too, because his expression moved to one of understanding. He
slanted a glance in my direction, as he too began taking his glove off. “What was she like when
you met her?” He asked, his voice softening a little bit.
The memory of her fiery gaze immediately seared into my mind. “Well, she certainly hasn’t
changed. Still as fierce and as stubborn as ever.”
Karl chuckled lowly. “Whenever you need us to get her, you just let us know.”
I handed the gloves over to him, accepting the face towel he was handing me. “Thank you, but
I’ll be handling this one myself.”
He gave a curt nod, stepping back. “Of course.”

Back at the mansion, I stood under the cold spray of the shower, hoping to wash away the
storm of emotions raging inside me. Minutes later, after I was dressed and slightly more
composed, I descended the grand staircase. A young warrior awaited me at the bottom, his
posture rigid. “Your highness,” he greeted, bowing slightly.
“What’s the report?” I inquired.
“Sienna resides in a cabin on the outskirts of the pack’s territory. She appears to be leaving
with an older woman. The relationship between them is unknown.”
I nodded, processing the information. “Thank you, that would do for now.”
As he departed, a wave of determination settled over me. I would be returning to Sienna’s
pack soon enough. She needed to understand the danger she was in. That she belonged in the
pack with me. I was going to give her some time to reach a conclusion on her own.
And then she was coming back with me whether she liked it or not.
