Chapter 53
Sienna
My breath caught in my throat.
Elias just called me mom. Elias just called me mom. Right in front of Logan. The world seemed to blur, my focus narrowing to Logan’s face. I noted the emotions fighting for dominance in his expression. First confusion, then surprise, and lastly… hurt. No anger. Not yet. He didn’t
know Elias wasn’t just some kid I’d had with someone else and was keeping from him.
I couldn’t hold back my wince at the thought; at the chilling gravity of my actions. I’d
separated a father from his son. And all for what? I couldn’t hide the guilt that flooded my
eyes, even if I tried. His gaze flicked repeatedly between Elias and me, searching for answers
to questions he didn’t dare ask yet. Elias looked up at me, curiosity in his eyes. “Mom, who’s
he?”
I flinched, the question slicing through the tension. Forcing a smile, I gave Elias a small
squeeze. “He’s-he’s-he’s a friend.” The words tasted bitter, a lie I couldn’t swallow. I cleared
my throat. “He’s a friend,” I repeated firmly before he could point out my obvious stuttering.
Logan’s nostrils flared, his eyes narrowing slowly as he picked up Elias’s scent, a scent that
would reveal the truth to him. Shock filtered into his expression as realization dawned.
He was finally piecing it together, the truth unraveling before him. Mara stepped into my line
of sight, her eyes meeting mine with a silent question. I shook my head subtly, signaling her
to let me handle it. Turning to Elias, I crouched down and ruffled his hair. “Why don’t you go
inside and change, hmm?” He frowned slightly, clearly aware something was wrong. I gave his
arms a light squeeze. “I’ll be back soon.”
I stood to my feet as Mara stepped forward, taking his hand in hers and leading him inside the
cabin. I let my eyes meet Logan’s icy stare, summoning the courage to whisper, “Can we talk
somewhere private?” I pleaded. He didn’t respond. His lips pressed into a thin line, his fists

clenching at his sides.

Understanding his silence, his anger-I turned and led the way into the woods, feeling the heat of his rage radiating off him as he followed closely behind me. We reached the small clearing where we usually sharpened our powers. The reminder of the other secret I was keeping from him was almost too much to bear. The second I turned to face him, his voice cut
through the silence, colder than I’d ever heard it.
“Go on. Explain.”
I swallowed the hot lump in my throat, forcing myself to meet his gaze. Dear goddess, he was
so mad. “I-I’m sorry,” I whispered shakily, a single tear escaping down my cheek. His reaction
was immediate; he turned, slamming his fists into the nearest tree. I shuddered, staring at
the visible indentation on the trunk of the tree.
“Fuck!” he yelled, throwing another punch. And another. And another. Each punch released the
anger and pain I’d caused. I stood rooted to the spot, tears streaming silently down my face as
I watched him unravel. The guilt was suffocating, the weight of my wrong choices crashing
down around me. What have I done?
He turned back to me, eyes filled with a mixture of disappointment, hurt, and rage. “What the
fuck, Sienna?” He bellowed. I flinched at the harshness of his tone, unable to meet his gaze.
“All this time? All this time you had been keeping him from me?” My sobs grew louder. I
covered my mouth with my hand, the intensity of his pain threatening to tear me apart.
He took a step forward. “Say it,” he demanded, his voice rising.
I looked up, meeting his eyes. I wiped at my eyes, barely able to see him through my tears. His
tone was frightening. “If you had the guts to keep him from me, then you damned well have
the guts to tell me the truth to my face.” His words were like a sucker punch. I had never truly
been afraid of him, I realized.
Until now.

Sniffing, I forced myself to confront the reality I’d been avoiding. “Y-You have a child, Logan,”
I admitted shakily. “We have a son together.” A tear slipped down his cheek, the first I’d ever
seen from him.
And. it. completely. broke. me.
I pressed my lips together, darting my gaze somewhere else. “How could you?” He asked,
making no attempt to hide how hurt he was by what I’d done. My silence drove him mad all
over again. “How could you keep him from me?” He yelled.
“You gave me no choice!” I yelled back, my voice trembling and raw, as tears spilled freely
down my eyes. How dare he act like this was something only I was responsible for? I took a
step towards him. “Have you forgotten how you had your warriors escort me out of the pack
like I was nothing? What was I supposed to do, Log-”
“Not keep my damn heir away from me!”
The rage in his voice shook me to my core, leaving me frozen in silence.
He marched toward me, each step echoing in the silence of the woods. I instinctively shrank
back, my reaction fueling his anger. His hand reached out, gripping my chin firmly, forcing me
to meet his burning eyes. “I’m going to wait until the third day you gave me,” he said, voice
low and menacing, “And then I’m coming back for my son. You either come with us… or you
stay behind.”
1 pulled my face away, shuddering at the underlying threat in his words. “T-that’s crazy! He
doesn’t even know who you are.” The reminder of what he was capable of came to the
forefront of my mind.
He ground his jaw, his eyes dark and furious. “And whose fault is that, Sienna?” Silence
swallowed me whole. He repeated, cold as ice, “Three days. And then I’m coming to get him.”
Without another word, he turned and dashed into the woods, leaving me trembling, alone, and

He doesn’t get to be angry. He basically threw her out, now he wants to take him away from her. He lost the rite to be a father when he abandoned his mother.
