Thud.
Thud.
Thud.
The rhythmic thud of my fists against the punching bag echoed through the training room. I
wiped off the sweat from my brows, trying to put a leash on the anger coursing through my
veins. I didn’t think there was ever a time I had been this mad. I was pissed at her. God, I was
so pissed. How could she have kept him from me? My son.
Our son.
How could I have returned to the pack without my heir?
The thought alone reignited my fury, and before I could stop myself, I was unleashing another
barrage of punches, the bag swaying violently under my assault. I was so mad, and yet… a part
of me understood her. I paused, my chest heaving, and leaned against the bag. The memories
flooded back. Memories of me taking her virginity, leaving before she awoke, ordering the
warriors to escort her out.
I had discarded her like she was nothing, blinded by her status as an Omega. Of course she
hadn’t returned when she’d discovered she was pregnant. Could I truly blame her for thinking
I wouldn’t want anything to do with the child we created? The guilt gnawed at me, a bitter pill
I couldn’t swallow down.
As much as I’d threatened to take him away from her, I knew deep down I couldn’t hurt her
like that. Not anymore. She had chosen to keep him, to raise him alone, to protect him. She
had given him everything while I remained oblivious. The realization was a punch to the gut,

more painful than any blow I could deliver to the bag. I had the pack, but he was the only
person she truly had. No, I would have to find a way to convince her for both of them to
return to the pack.
。
And soon.
With all the threats looming around, there was hardly enough time anymore. In the meantime,
I could convince her to formally introduce me to him. I needed a chance to make this right-
for both of them. The door creaked open, and I didn’t need to look to know it was Cassian. He
thought himself subtle, but I had known he was keeping an eye on me ever since I’d returned
back from Sienna’s pack.
He approached silently, handing me a towel and a bottle of water. “You okay?” he asked,
concern etched in his voice.
I wiped the sweat from my face, taking a long swig from the bottle as I debated whether or not
I wanted to fill him in on what I’d discovered just yet. To hell with it. I needed to talk about it
with someone, or go mad from bottling it inside.
“Sienna had my child,” I informed him bluntly.
His eyes widened in shock. “What?”
I scratched the back of my neck, recounting everything to him- the revelation, the
confrontation, my threat. He listened intently, his expression shifting from surprise to
concern. “You’re sure it’s the right thing to do?” He asked cautiously. “Taking the boy
forcefully?”
I shook my head. I knew better now. “No. I was just thinking about that myself. I can’t hurt her
like that.” The more I said the words, the more I was convinced. “She made a choice to keep him. She’s been raising him all these years without seeking my help.” And what had I done in
turn? Painted a target on her back. I shook my head again, this time at myself. “I need to
convince her to come back with him of her own accord, for all our sakes.”

Cassian’s brow furrowed, his worry evident. “With the note you found… we can’t risk them
being unprotected.” He stated, a flare of protectiveness in his tone.
I’ve already assigned warriors to keep an eye on them,” I assured him. ‘Hopefully, I will be
able to convince her soon enough.”
He nodded. “I won’t say a word to anyone.” He reassured me, understanding the gravity of the
situation without my needing to address it.
“Thank you,” I said, my gratitude genuine.
Just as I was about returning to the punching bag, Kael made a sudden appearance, a grim
expression on his face. He acknowledged Cassian with a small nod before turning his attention
to me. “We’ve located one of the seers in the mountains,” he informed. I motioned for him to
carry on. “The seer conveyed that our kingdom is in grave danger, that secrets long hidden are
about to surface, and only by uniting those closest to you can we overcome the impending
threat.”
I clenched my jaw, the muscles in my arm tightening as I processed the seer’s warning. The
timing was uncanny, given the secret I’d just uncovered. “Thank you, Kael. I understand, I
responded vaguely. “I know exactly what needs to be done. Turning to Cassian, I instructed,
“Bring the lead warrior who’s been monitoring Sienna to the courtroom. I need to speak with
him immediately.”
Without waiting for a response, I exited the room, heading upstairs to freshen up.
After a quick shower, I donned a fresh set of clothes, immediately heading for the courtroom. Upon my arrival, the lead warrior tensed. I lowered myself on the throne, studying him closely.
“You’ve been observing Sienna for quite a while. You never noticed a child with her?”
The warrior stared at me with a hint of confusion. “I did, your majesty. He was almost always
with the older woman, so I assumed he was her grandson. They seemed close.” His assumption
was understandable, and a part of me was relieved he hadn’t guessed Sienna to be the boy’s

mother. “I see, I murmured, dismissing him with a raise of my hand. “That will be all. He
bowed and exited, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
The seer’s warning echoed in my mind. I needed Sienna to understand the gravity of the
situation. I would wait until tomorrow, and then I would pay her a visit and speak with her.
Not as King…
But as a Lycan seeking to protect both his mate and his heir.
