“I want Elias to make that decision.” She responded firmly. “And I don’t want anyone
influencing him.” Her eyes begged me to understand, and a part of me hated that I did. I
couldn’t just take him away from a place he’d grown to love and call home. I sighed, running a
hand down my face.
I inhaled a steadying breath. “Am I at least allowed to spend some time with him?” I asked
softly.
She held my eyes for a few seconds before finally nodding. She paused to adjust her hair and
her clothes before leading me out of the cabin. I waited patiently as she disappeared around
the corner, returning a few minutes later with Elias. “I’ll be in the garden with Mara,” she
informed me, kissing the top of his head before leaving us alone. I sat on the long bench on
the porch, tapping the space beside me and gesturing for Elias to sit.
He kicked his legs beneath him after he had sat, staring up at me with a childlike wonder. So,
you’re really a king?” He asked, eyes wide.
I chuckled, a little surprised Sienna had admitted that to him. I nodded. “Yes, I am.”
He nodded back, found silent for a few minutes before turning to me. “Where have you been
this whole time then?” He asked quietly. “Mom didn’t give me a solid answer when I asked
her,” He admitted quietly. My smile slightly faded and the look of sadness in his eyes.
I forced myself to brighten my expression. “You already know I’m a King,” I reminded him.
“I’ve been far away, dealing with things I didn’t want you two to worry about.”
He seemed to be pleased with my answer, nodding his head and kicking his feet again. He gave
me a smile that was much like mine, it immediately melted my heart. “Mom said you hurt her
so hadn’t told you about me but that you want us to be together now,”
The air left my lungs in a whoosh. She really had told him the whole truth, hadn’t she? I

nodded. “Yes, that’s right, I held his eyes. “I’m sorry I hurt your mother, and I hope to fully earn her forgiveness soon, I confessed. He smiled at my words, sharing all the things Sienna
liked. Just as we were wrapping up our conversation, Mara approached.
“Elias, could you please go help your mother in the garden?” she asked. He nodded, turning to me to say that it was nice to meet me before leaving Mara and I alone. She sighed, coming to
sit beside me on the bench. “Deep down, I know she would have liked to inform you sooner,” she started. She turned, slanting a look at me. “I think she was just scared of how you would
react.”
We discussed my past with Sienna, and I apologized for treating a woman she had come to
love so wrongly. She parted my hands, letting me know I already knew what to do now that I
knew the truth. I nodded solemnly. Something told me she already had an inkling to the
things quietly brewing. I let her know I was going to protect them. “I’ll make sure they return
with me somehow,” I said, determination coloring my tone.
There was shuffling in front of us.
I lifted my head, meeting Sienna’s angry gaze. My heart dropped. She must have heard my last
statement and misunderstood… “You’re not going to force us, Logan,” she said firmly.
I shook my head, rising to my feet. “That’s not what I mea-”
“I think it’s time for you to head back to your pack,” she cut in coldly, folding her arms across
her chest.
I turned helplessly to Mara. She gave me a subtle nod, indicating for me to just leave for now.
I walked to the stairs, just as Elias rounded the corner and asked if I was leaving. I nodded at
him, meeting Sienna’s eyes as I spoke to him.
“Don’t worry, I’m going to be back. I’m never leaving you again.”
