Chapter 59
Logan
The clang of steel echoed through the training grounds as my pack warriors sparred with each
other. I grunted, blocking yet another blow, sweat dripping down my eyebrows. Sparring
sessions were easily one of the tasks I enjoyed the most. I found it slightly amusing how
determined my pack warriors were to win against me. Only that today, there was nothing
amusing.
I had needed something to take my mind off Elias and Sienna, and I’d found it.
I ducked just in time to evade my sparring partner’s blows, throwing three punches in. From
the back of my mind, I took note of his busted lip, but I was too far gone to care. He had
barely come back up before I was swinging my hands again and landing more punches in. For
a moment I saw red, the primal urge to unleash my frustration on something becoming a little
overwhelming. Luckily I caught myself on time and took a step back, my chest heaving.
The warrior looked at me, concern etched on his face, but I simply waved him off, signaling a
break. I walked to one of the benches in the training grounds and lowered myself onto it,
trying to steady my breathing. From the corner of my eyes, I noticed Nessa approaching, her
eyes wide with worry. “Logan, what’s going on?” She asked, lowering herself down beside me.
“Something’s clearly wrong.”
I hesitated, debating whether or not to share the truth with her. I’d been visiting the pack
since Sienna had formally introduced me to Elias, but not once had I met them in the cabin.
After the third visit, it had become clear it wasn’t at all happening by accident. She was
deliberately avoiding me, making sure I didn’t get to Elias whenever I visited. At first I’d been
mad with rage, but Mara had advised that going off wouldn’t be the right way to handle the
situation.
And deep down I knew it too.

Chapter 59
I was trying to bring us all together, not tear us apart. But goddess, I was so pissed. One minute it felt like we were making some progress and the next it felt like we were back to where we’d been in the beginning. I had apologized, hadn’t I? And she had too. I couldn’t figure out why she thought I was still trying to force her into doing something she didn’t want
Nessa’s gentle nudge dragged me back to reality. “You can’t keep everything bottled up, she
insisted, placing a hand on my shoulder. The gentleness in her voice did it.
“Sienna had my child,” I blurted out.
She went completely still for a second, and then her eyes were threatening to budge out of
their sockets. Her mouth opened in shock. “She what?” She whisper-yelled.
I nodded in confirmation. “She had my child. My heir,” I added quietly. She stared at me, still
processing my words when Cassian joined us. One look at her face, and he could tell what the
tension was about.
“You finally told her,” he said, a hint of relief in his voice.
Nessa turned to him, incredulous. “You knew?” She almost shrieked. “And you didn’t tell me?
she demanded.
Cassian raised his hands defensively. “It wasn’t my place,” he replied. She had a look on her
face that said she understood but she still carried on sulking. As she playfully swatted at
Cassian, laughter bubbling between them, a sharp pang pierced my chest. Their bond was so
easy and playful, a stark contrast to the strained silence that often lingered between Sienna
and me.
I couldn’t help but wonder if, had I treated her differently, we might have shared moments like
this-light-hearted and unburdened by past mistakes. I leaned forward, placing my elbows on
my knees as the weight of the past weeks pressed down on me. All the times I’d lashed out…
“I wasn’t sure how to handle it,” I whispered more to myself than to anyone, but still gaining

Nessa’s attention once again. “Finding out I have a son, that Sienna had kept him from me…
it’s a lot.”
Nessa nodded, her expression softening. “If you want Sienna to return to the pack, you need to
win her over,” she advised gently. “Be gentle, bring her thoughtful gifts, take her out, if she’ll
allow it.” As well-intentioned as her words were, they sounded so… alien. I hardly knew how
to be gentle, and I had never taken anyone out. Not in that way. My duties to the pack had
come before anything, right until I’d met Sienna and discovered she was my mate.
The idea of courting Sienna properly, of navigating the fragile bond we now had, was both
hopeful and terrifying. And then there was the prophecy… I ran a hand down my face, a groan
escaping my lips. “This is starting to sound like something I’m not equipped to do,” I admitted,
the vulnerability in my voice surprising even me.
Cassian chuckled, leaning forward and clapping me on the back. “You’re doing it for the
mother of your heir,” he reminded me.
Nessa nodded in agreement. “Perhaps it’s time to let the rest of the inner circle know.”
I hesitated. The thought of exposing this fragile situation to more scrutiny was a little
unsettling. “I’ll think about it,” I replied simply. “For now, I’d prefer to keep it under wraps.”
Nessa gave a small nod in respect to my decision, offering a supportive smile before turning to
leave with Cassian. As they walked away, I felt a mix of gratitude and hope. “Cassian,” I called
out, prompting him to pause. “Can I have a word?” He nodded, motioning for Nessa to go
ahead without him. Once alone, I cleared my throat. “How am I supposed to… seduce Sienna?”
His chuckle was hearty. He handed me back my training gloves, a mischievous glint in his
eyes.
“Let’s talk about it while we spar,” he suggested, jerking his head towards the center of the
field.
