The Lucan Marked Me - Chapter (69)

Chapter 69
Logan
The mansion was completely silent when I stepped in. It had taken longer than I’d expected
for us to move the livestock for grazing out in the woods and then back to the pack. There was
no way for me to let Sienna know I would be back late. I had barely had the time to take a
breather, and there had certainly been no time to leave a message with any of the warriors for
Sienna.
A part of me wondered if she even cared enough to wonder why I hadn’t been back home on
time. We were mated, but we certainly lived a different life from the other mated couples in
the pack. I reminded myself I had to be patient with her. I still had to win her forgiveness and
get her to come around. Moonlight streamed through the windows in the hallways, casting
elongated shadows across the polished floors.
I moved quietly, not wanting to disturb the peace that had settled over the mansion. I made
my way upstairs to Elias’s room, gently pushing the door open and peering inside to check on
him. The door creaked lightly and he stirred, his eyes fluttering open as he sensed my
presence. “Hey, buddy,” I whispered, stepping into the room. “How was your day?’ He rubbed
his eyes, a sleepy smile forming on his lips.
“It was good,” he murmured. I sat on the edge of his bed, brushing a strand of hair from his
forehead.
He blinked at me. “I tried to wait up for you, but it got very late and mom said I should go to
bed,” I nodded at him, letting him know I understood.
“Yes, your mom was right,” I told him. “I had to attend to some things and they lasted longer
than I expected, I explained as simply as I could. He sighed but didn’t say anything. “Have you
thought more about joining the academy?” I asked gently. He hesitated, then shook his head. I
nodded, understanding his apprehension. “That’s okay,” I said, smoothing his hair.

Chapter 69
I would have to talk to Sienna about convincing Elias to join the academy. I didn’t want to put
any pressure, but at the end of the day, he was still my heir. There was only so much time
until he had to begin training to take over the pack. Leaning down, I pressed a kiss to his
forehead. “Get some sleep,” I whispered. He nodded, his eyes already closing as he nestled back
into his pillows. I stood, pulling the blanket up to his chin before quietly exiting the room.
Unthinking I made my way to Sienna’s room, pausing just outside her door. My hand hovered
over the doorknob, knowing I would find her door open. She’d mentioned she wouldn’t keep it
closed in case Elias needed something in the middle of the night. I’d been keeping my own
door open ever since. Taking a deep breath, I turned the handle slowly, stepping into the room
to check on her.
I expected darkness, but instead I found Sienna propped against the headboard, a book in her
hands. The soft glow of the bedside lamp highlighted the angle of her jaw as she looked up. “You’re back,” she said, her voice immediately causing my chest to loosen. I stepped inside,
closing the door behind me.
“Sorry it’s so late,” I murmured, heading towards her and shrugging off my jacket. “I had a lot
to attend to and they took longer than expected. Would have sent you a message but there
wasn’t even time for that,” I explained.
She set the book aside, concern flickering in her eyes. “Are you okay? She inquired softly,
searching my eyes. I nodded, offering a tired smile.
“Just a long day,” I replied, sinking into the chair by the bed. “The warriors are nearly done
with Mara’s cabin. Should be ready by week’s weekend.” I watched her eyes light up with
appreciation.
“Mara would probably appreciate that a lot,” She said, giving me a small smile.
I pressed my lips together, wondering whether or not to get it out once and for all. “Elias
doesn’t seem to want to join the academy any time soon,” I said tentatively.

She closed the book in her hand and carefully placed it on her nightstand before meeting my
eyes. “I plan to visit the academy with him tomorrow. See how he feels about it.” She informed
- “I’m aware he had to get enrolled soon so he’s not behind on the teachings, though I think
Elias would catch up pretty quickly.”
“He would,” I agreed with a nod. He had Lycan blood running through him. His skills and
abilities would be better than those of his mates. “That’s a good idea,” I said, meeting her gaze.
“He’ll definitely feel more at ease with you there.”
We didn’t speak after that, although I could tell there were a lot of things on our minds. I
wanted to apologize again, I wanted to ask her to move into my room. I wanted to touch her,
and taste her and find out whether or not she still made those sounds that drove me crazy. My
gaze fell to her lips and her breath caught. I dragged my gaze from them, knowing if I pushed
her too hard, she would retreat into herself.
This was just another punishment I had to bear for treating her harshly in the beginning. I
stood, stretching the fatigue from my limbs. “Goodnight, Sienna,” I said softly.
“Goodnight, Logan.” She responded. I read the look in her eyes, saw she was wondering
whether or not I would try to kiss her. Forcing myself to put one leg behind the other, I exited
her room. Finally, I stepped into my room and washed away the day’s grime. It took a few
minutes for me to have a shower, dry my hair, and get dressed in fresh clothes. Not for the
first time as I lay in bed, I found myself longing for the day Sienna would lay beside me.
It would come eventually, I knew it.
I just wished it would come soon.
