AVA’S POINT OF VIEW

I had already decided I would rather help the Gamma in his territory than spend another minute beside
Celine.
A Luna working under the Gamma should have felt humiliating, but at this point, I welcomed it. Anything was better than breathing the same air as the woman who had deceived everyone by calling herself my mate’s sister when, in reality, she had been sharing my mate’s bed all along.
Besides, I hadn’t done this to myself.
Logan had.
The thought settled like ice in my chest, and my wolf only lowered her head in weary agreement. We were long past caring about pride.
Before I could leave, Logan’s Beta approached me.
“Luna Ava.”
The title almost made me laugh.
Fake.
Axel had known about Logan and Celine all along. So had Dorian. So had everyone in Logan’s inner
circle. They had watched me walk around wearing the title of Luna while my mate built another life
behind my back, and not one of them had thought I deserved the truth.
I should have spat in his face.
Instead, I simply looked at him.
“What do you want?”
My voice stayed calm, light enough not to attract attention, though my wolf paced restlessly beneath
my skin.
“Alpha Logan ordered me to tell you not to report to the Gamma’s territory anymore. You’ll be working with his sister instead… helping with the pack’s finances.”
I frowned.
“What? But he-”

“He changed his mind.”
My wolf snarled.

The sound never escaped my lips, but it echoed inside my head, rattling against my restraint. My fingers curled into my palms until my nails bit into my skin.
Without another word, I brushed past him.
If I opened my mouth now, I might say something neither Logan nor his Beta would ever forget.
Not yet.
I would play the obedient mate a little longer.
After all, what I had planned for Logan was far greater than a moment of anger.
As I walked down the corridor, my phone vibrated.
Hope flared before I could stop it.
I hurriedly pulled it out, only for my shoulders to sink when a fitness reminder flashed across the
screen.
A bitter laugh almost escaped me.
Yesterday, after leaving Nyx’s house, I had found myself waiting for a call that never came.
[flashback]
Just as I set my pen down, my phone vibrated.
A message.
“With the look on your face right now, I’d think you’re having an affair.”
Nyxelle’s nosy grin was impossible to ignore, so I gave her the truth.
“Someone I met today invited me out for a meal.”
“Is he handsome?”
Lucian’s face flashed through my mind before I could stop it. Those sharp features weren’t exactly
easy to forget.
“Yes.”
Her eyes lit up. “Is he trying to court you?”

“It didn’t seem that way.”

I left out the part where he was an Alpha-and the name of his pack. The last thing I needed was Nyxelle tracking him down out of pure curiosity.
Besides, if Lucian really was interested, wouldn’t he have messaged me by now?
He knew I was a mated Luna. That alone should’ve been enough to keep his distance.
I glanced at my phone again, only for my brows to knit together.
The message wasn’t from Lucian.
Ever since he’d sent that takeaway, a part of me had expected another text from him. Instead,
someone else had reached out.
After wrapping up the paperwork in front of me, I checked the time. Since Lucian wasn’t going to make
the first move, the least I could do was thank him.
I typed a quick message.
Thank you for the takeaway.
Five minutes passed.
No reply.
I exhaled quietly, set my phone aside, and returned to the pack documents waiting for me.
I blinked, pushing the memory aside before slipping my phone into my pocket and heading toward my
office.
The moment I stepped inside, Celine’s face lit up.
“Oh, you’re back.”
I looked at her without answering.
Ignoring her sounded far more appealing than pretending we could ever have a civil conversation.
She didn’t seem bothered by my silence.
“Good. I actually have something to tell you.”
I waited.

“Ava, there’s an important gathering tonight. All the influential Alphas and Lunas from the wealthiest packs will be there. Dad received an invitation for Logan, but each Alpha is only allowed one female companion.” A smug smile spread across her face. “Logan already chose me, so… I’m sorry. You won’t
be attending.”
I smiled.
How embarrassingly desperate.
I already knew about the gathering.
In fact, the entire event revolved around something connected to me.
Before I could answer, Devon walked in carrying several stacks of documents.
“Luna Ava, these are the reports you requested.”
Before I could respond, Celine stepped in as though she owned the office.
“Leave them here. Our Luna has to organize everything before she leaves the packhouse today.”
Devon hesitated.
I caught the brief flicker of surprise on her face.
So did I.
Celine was giving me orders inside my own pack.
My wolf lifted her head, a low growl rumbling in the back of my mind, insult flickering through the bond
we shared.
I forced every bitter word back down my throat until they burned.
Of course Celine carried herself like she belonged here. She had nothing to fear. She wasn’t Logan’s
sister.
She was the woman he had chosen.
The one he stood beside without shame.
The one he looked at the way a mate should be looked at.
And me?
I was the Luna everyone acknowledged, yet somehow I was the one standing on the outside, watching another woman occupy the place that should have been mine.

“Understood,” I murmured quietly.

Celine’s smile widened in satisfaction before she walked away, Devon following behind her.
The office finally fell silent,
Hours passed.
File after file covered my desk as I sorted reports, inventory lists, herb records, and financial statements into separate sections. By the time I finished, my shoulders ached and exhaustion settled
deep into my bones..
Rubbing my temples, I picked up my phone and texted Beatrice.
~I’d like to attend the gathering tonight.~
Her reply came almost immediately.
~Luna, are you finally interested in the seminar?~
A small smile tugged at my lips.
~Not really. I’m going because I need to meet someone. Can you get me an invitation?~
By evening, Logan still hadn’t returned.
He was probably getting ready with Celine.
The thought no longer hurt the way it once did.
It simply felt… expected.
Before leaving, I sent Beatrice one last message.
Don’t tell Logan I’ll be there.~
The gathering hall was already filling when I arrived.
Powerful Alphas and elegant Lunas from neighboring packs stepped through the grand entrance ope
after another, their conversations blending beneath the sparkling chandeliers.
I had barely taken another step when I collided with someone.
“Ava?”
Celine’s voice rang out first.
She tightened her grip around Logan’s arm as though staking a claim.

“What are you doing here?”

“Didn’t Devon tell you to organize all those herb files before leaving the packhouse? If you keep slacking off, you’ll never finish.”
“Sorting those records isn’t a small task, Ava. You should go back and complete them.”
“I already did.”
I reached for my phone. “You can ask Devon if you-”
The words never left my mouth.
Logan plucked the phone from my hand before I could finish, his eyes narrowing as he looked at me.
“Why are you even here?” he demanded. “And how did you get inside?”
A smile tugged at my lips.
“The security guards thought I was pretty.”
His expression darkened.
“They decided to let me in.”
His expression made it clear he didn’t believe a word of it. His lips parted, another question already
forming, but Celine slipped her hand around his arm and gave his sleeve a gentle tug.
“Logan, let’s go. The seminar is about to begin.”
Then she looked at me, the sweetness in her smile just sharp enough to sting.
“We’re sitting in the VIP section with several high-ranking Alphas. Unlike Ava, whose seat is somewhere else, we shouldn’t keep everyone waiting.”
My wolf rolled her eyes so dramatically I almost laughed.
I wasn’t here for the seats.
Just as Logan and Celine turned to leave, one of the event organizers hurried over. The moment he reached me, he stopped and dipped his head respectfully.
“Luna Ava,” he greeted. “Please come with me.”
Stepping aside, he extended an arm toward the front row.
