I looked at the staff member in confusion, my brows knitting together. was about to ask if this had
been Beatrice’s arrangement, but he answered before the question could leave my lips.
“This is Alpha Lucian’s intention.”
“Alpha Lucian?”
The name slipped from my mouth before I could stop it.
Of all people… him?
Beside me, Logan stiffened.
The shift was almost imperceptible, but I caught it anyway, His jaw clenched. The muscles in his neck tightened, and a dangerous shadow settled over his features. Even his wolf stirred beneath his skin,
the faint golden flicker in his eyes lasting only a heartbeat before disappearing.
I pretended not to notice.
Instead, I followed the staff member toward the seat.
As I walked away, I caught Celine tugging at Logan’s arm, whispering urgently into his ear. Whatever
she said, he barely reacted. His gaze remained locked on me, heavy enough that I could feel it between
my shoulder blades.
The chair waiting for me sat among the highest-ranking guests.
Not just VIP.
Higher.
The kind of seat reserved for Alphas, Lunas, and wolves whose names alone carried authority.
A few conversations around me quieted as I took my seat.
Curious glances lingered.
Whispers followed.
Even my wolf shifted uneasily.
They’re wondering who you are, Karla murmured, her voice smooth with amusement. Good. Let them
wonder.

Across the hall, Celine’s smile had completely vanished.
If looks could kill, mine would’ve been the first body on the floor.
She wasn’t upset because I was here.
She was upset because I was here… and sitting above her.
I calmly looked away.

Just as Logan and Celine were about to sit down, another staff member hurried toward them.
“Excuse me, ma’am. You cannot sit here.”
“What?”
Celine shot to her feet, disbelief twisting her features.
“Why can’t I sit here? I have an invitation.”
She jabbed Logan’s side with her elbow.
“Show him.”
Without a word, Logan handed over his invitation.
Idiot.
“It’s clearly stated that our seats are VIP,” Celine said, tapping the invitation impatiently. “Right there.”
The staff member glanced over it before lifting his head.
“The invitation is correct, Madam.”
The smug smile that spread across Celine’s face was almost instant.
“I knew it.”
“…However,” the man continued calmly, “this invitation belongs to the gentleman.”
Her smile froze.
“He is an Alpha. His seat is in the VIP section. You, however, are an accompanying guest.
Silence.
“We have strict seating arrangements. Accompanying guests are required to sit in the general section. Only Alphas and Lunas may occupy these reserved seats.”

With practiced politeness, he extended his hand toward the back rows.
“Please.”

For a second, Celine simply stared at him.
Then her face burned crimson.
“Are you kidding me?”
Her voice rose sharply, drawing attention from every direction.
She suddenly pointed straight at me.
Seriously?
What did I do this time?
“Then why is she sitting there?” she demanded. “She doesn’t even have an invitation! Yet you’re letting her sit above everyone else?”
The staff member didn’t so much as glance in my direction.
“Madam, if you refuse to cooperate, I’ll have no choice but to call security.”
“You wouldn’t dare.”
Gasps rippled through the hall.
The argument had become impossible to ignore.
Nearby conversations faded one after another as heads turned toward the commotion. Distinguished Alphas from powerful packs, elegant Lunas draped in expensive gowns, respected Betas with their
wolves quietly observing beneath composed expressions…
Every pair of eyes settled on them.
The humiliation was complete.
Inside my mind, Karla burst into laughter.
Oh, this is priceless. Did you see her face? She looks like she’s about to shift from embarrassment
alone.
I fought the urge to smile.
“Alright, alright,” Logan said at last, rubbing his temple. “It’s just a seat, Celine. Sit in the back. It won’t

kill you
Her head snapped toward him.

Disbelief flickered across her face before slowly giving way to hurt. The color drained from her
features, and almost instantly, her eyes reddened, shimmering with unshed tears.
Not because of the seat…
But because he hadn’t chosen her side.
Without another word, she spun around and walked toward the back of the hall, fists clenched tightly enough for her knuckles to turn white.
I couldn’t bring myself to care.
A server appeared beside me with a crystal glass filled with sparkling wine.
I accepted it with a quiet thank you, taking a slow sip while watching the room settle again.
The hosting Alpha still hadn’t arrived.
My gaze drifted back to the empty place beside the pack circle.
Alpha Lucian.
Why?
Why would someone like him arrange this?
This wasn’t just a good seat.
This was influence.
Power.
The kind that made people obey without daring to ask questions.
For him to place me here… his status had to be far beyond what I’d imagined.
Which only left one question.
What exactly did he want from me?
Unable to ignore the curiosity any longer, I pulled out my phone.
Me: Where are you? Can we meet?.

Lneeded answers.
His reply came almost instantly.
Surprisingly fast.
Especially after leaving my last message on read.
Alpha Lucían: I am unable to do that right now
I lifted my head, instinctively letting my gaze sweep across the crowd.

Rows of unfamiliar faces met my eyes-powerful Alphas standing beside their Lunas, influential pack leaders exchanging greetings, and business partners engaged in quiet conversations. Every pair of eyes carried authority, every presence a reminder that the room was filled with the most influential wolves in the region.
But not him.
Surely he had to know the Alpha hosting tonight’s gathering if he’d managed to arrange a seat like this.
Was he here…
Watching?
Or somewhere else entirely?
I lowered my gaze and typed again.
Me: Then tell me… how did you get me this seat when you’re not even here?
His response appeared almost immediately.
Alpha Lucian: You underestimate me, Ava.
I stared at the message for several seconds.
Karla huffed softly.
Annoyingly mysterious.
She wasn’t wrong.
After one last glance around the hall, I sighed and typed another message.
Me: Thank you. I really didn’t expect you to do this for me.

No reply.
Again.
I frowned at my screen.
I couldn’t predict him.
One moment he’d quietly order food for me without expecting anything in return.
The next, he’d somehow arrange one of the most prestigious seats in the gathering.
It almost felt like…
He was watching over me.
The thought sent an uncomfortable flutter through my chest.
What could an Alpha like him possibly want from someone like me?
Then again…
He was an Alpha.
Powerful men like him didn’t spend their days chatting on the phone.
Eventually, I slipped my phone back into my purse.
At that moment, The Alpha hosting the gathering entered alongside his Luna.

They moved with effortless confidence, their aura radiating quiet dominance beneath perfectly
controlled expressions. The room instinctively fell silent as every guest rose to acknowledge them.
Respect wasn’t demanded.
It was simply given.
After everyone had taken their seats again, the Alpha stepped onto the front.
He began speaking about alliances, pack contributions, expanding territories, and future business between the northern packs.
I rested back in my chair and listened carefully.
