Chapter 9

LOGAN’S POINT OF VIEW

Get 5

Men

The room lay steeped in silence, broken only by the slow, steady rhythm of my breathing.

I stretched out on the spare bed, one arm tucked beneath my head as my gaze lingered on the shadowed ceiling. My body should’ve been heavy with exhaustion. Most wolves crashed the moment the adrenaline faded, their instincts demanding rest after a long night, and my wolf was no exception.

Usually, after a night with Celine-after hours tangled beneath the sheets -I barely had time to close my eyes before sleep dragged me under. My body always surrendered without a fight.

Not tonight.

My wolf paced restlessly beneath my skin, refusing to settle. Every few minutes, his ears seemed to prick at the faintest sound outside the door, only to retreat again when it wasn’t the footsteps we were waiting for.

Midnight had long since passed.

Ava still hadn’t returned.

The silence in the room felt heavier with every passing minute. I reached for my phone more times than I cared to admit, unlocking the screen only to stare at our empty conversation. My thumb hovered over her name before retreating each time.

What was I supposed to say?

Where are you?

Are you coming home?

The words refused to leave my fingers.

She hadn’t sent me a single message either.

That irritated me far more than it should have.

After another failed attempt, I tossed the phone onto the mattress and pushed myself to my feet. The bedroom suddenly felt too empty, too cold. Before I knew it, I had crossed the hallway, opened Celine’s door, and slipped beneath the covers beside her.

The movement stirred her awake.

A smile tugged at her lips before she quickly hid it, blinking up at me with practiced surprise.

“Why are you here?” she asked softly. “What if Ava comes back and sees you?”

I let out a bitter laugh that held no amusement.

“She’s probably not coming back tonight.”

The words tasted sour.

Moonlight spilled through the curtains, catching the hard line of my jaw. My wolf let out a low growl, more restless than angry.

Celine rested her chin on her hand as if considering my words.

“Still spending nights out after finding her mate?” she murmured. “Going to nightclubs like this… I understand now why you used to think she was dirty.”

I didn’t answer.

Instead, my gaze drifted to the little girl sleeping peacefully beside her.

Anaya.

My daughter.

Mine and Celine’s.

Her tiny fingers were curled around the edge of the blanket, completely unaware of the chaos surrounding the adults in her life. I brushed a strand of hair away from her forehead, my chest tightening.

This…

This should have been our family.

A simple, peaceful family of three.

Instead, everything had become tangled beyond recognition.

The next morning, I was already at the packhouse when Ava arrived.

As always, she carried herself with a calmness that made it impossible to read what was happening beneath the surface. Her posture was straight, her expression composed, and not a single trace of weakness showed on her face.

If she was exhausted from being out all night, she hid it well.

My eyes followed her for a moment longer than they should have, searching for any sign that she had been affected by everything that happened.

There was nothing

Then Celine crossed her arms, leaning back with a satisfied look on her face as she sent me a

knowing glance.

Ava noticed.

Her gaze shifted from Celine to the seat in front of her.

The Luna’s table.

Her table.

The space that had always belonged to her was now occupied by someone else.

A quiet tension settled over the room.

“What’s going on here?” Ava asked, her voice calm, but the slight narrowing of her eyes revealed she wasn’t as unaffected as she appeared.

“Let Logan explain.”

Ava’s eyes settled on me.

I found myself unable to meet her gaze. My wolf shifted uneasily, urging me to look away, yet forcing myself to stand my ground, I cleared my throat.

“I thought about it all night,” I began. “Celine has more professional training than you, and since you couldn’t reach an agreement with Alpha Kion yesterday… I think she’ll be better suited to oversee the

marketing department.”

I paused before continuing.

“You’ll work as her assistant. The two of you can share an office.”

Originally, I had intended to place Celine in charge of another department within the pack, but she insisted that finance and marketing were where she could contribute the most.

I expected an argument.

A protest.

At the very least, disappointment.

Instead

“Okay.

Ava answered so quickly that I almost thought I’d imagined it.

I frowned.

That was it?

No fight?

No questions?

“I’d rather help in the Gamma’s territory instead.”

The words caught me completely off guard.

For a heartbeat, I simply stared at her.

The Gamma’s territory?

My instincts immediately rejected the idea. My wolf lifted his head, alert and dissatisfied.

She was my Luna.

What business did my Luna have working in another territory?

“But…”

The protest died before it could leave my mouth.

The truth was, Ava had never been the most technically skilled wolf in the pack.

Yet intelligence?

She had plenty of it.

Time and time again, she’d solved problems others couldn’t, building relationships throughout

neighboring packs that benefited ours more than anyone realized.

Meltu

That was precisely why my family never wanted her influence to grow. Deep down, they were afraid of what would happen if Ava was given the chance to truly shine-because once she did, there would be no way for them to stand above her.

Ava stepped closer until only I could hear her.

Standing on her toes, she lowered her voice.

“No matter what happens, it doesn’t change the fact that I used millions from the pack’s emergency

funds.”

Her voice dropped to a whisper as she leaned closer, making sure only I could hear.

The moment those words reached my ears, my entire body went cold.

The weight of what she had done settled heavily in my chest.

“I’m sorry,” she continued softly. “I should never have acted on impulse like that.”

Her fingers tightened slightly as if she already knew the damage couldn’t be undone.

“But the money has already been invested into Nyx’s business. There’s no way to recover it now.”

My jaw tightened.

Before I could respond, her eyes shifted briefly toward Celine before returning to me.

“So let me help in another way.”

Her voice remained gentle, almost pleading, but there was a determination behind it.

“If I work within the Gamma’s territory, the pack won’t need to hire another wolf to manage the data

room. That will save on labor costs.”

A faint smile touched her lips, though it didn’t reach her eyes.

“I can assist the Gamma with pack files and administrative work. You already have your Beta by your

side, so there’s no reason I can’t contribute somewhere else.”

For a moment…

I saw it.

Not desperation.

Not defiance.

Only someone trying to make herself useful.

My wolf, who had been restless all morning, finally quieted.

She always had a way of finding solutions where everyone else saw problems.

Maybe that had always been her greatest strength.

Before I could respond, Celine spoke up.

“Logan” she said with an easy smile, “since my Luna has already suggested it, why not let her do it?”

I slowly nodded.

“Fine.”

Ava smiled.

It wasn’t a bright smile.

It barely reached her eyes.

Still, she thanked us before turning toward the door.

I watched her walk away, her figure growing smaller with every step.

The moment she disappeared from sight, an unfamiliar weight settled in my chest.

My wolf lifted his head once more, letting out a low, uneasy rumble.

Something felt wrong.

Something about her had changed. My wolf sensed it before I could even put it into words.

He’s ridiculous. The crap He’s doing with Celine is too obvious. What man gives everything to

a so called sister and treats his wife like nothing. can’t wait until the truth comes out!!
