AVA’S POINT OF VIEW
“Could it be related to the new herbs coming in?”
Celine’s fingers tightened around her glass.

“I’m doing a great job with the sorting and filing. How could there possibly be a problem?”
She answered too quickly, her voice carrying just enough defensiveness to make the question feel
more serious.
Logan didn’t argue.
“I’m sorry, Dad, but there’s an emergency at the packhouse. I have to go.”
He pushed his chair back and stood before anyone could stop him.
“Logan, you’re leaving?” Celine called after him. “What about me?”
Logan kept walking.
He didn’t turn around.
The silence that followed was almost louder than Celine’s voice.
With Logan gone, there was little reason to continue the meal. Dad eventually decided to call his assistant, intending to have him drive Celine and Naya home.
“There’s no need to trouble yourself,” I said, rising from my seat. “I’ll take them.”
Dad gave me an approving nod.
“Alright. You can go home with them. A Luna like you shouldn’t be wandering around alone.”
His stern expression softened as he reached over and gently patted Naya’s head.
“Naya is a good girl. You wouldn’t want to see your aunt living outside every day, would you?”
Naya blinked up at him with her big, watery eyes before nodding obediently.
“Aunt, you should come home and stay. You won’t bother me.”
Something in the child’s innocent voice melted the tension in the room.
But I saw right through it.

Guess she was taking notes from her mother.
Even Dad’s usually stern face softened.

And just like that, Celine and Naya followed me out of the building.
We had barely reached the roadside when I stopped.
“I’m sorry,” I said sweetly. “Something just came up, so I won’t be able to see you two home. You’ll
have to manage on your own.”
Celine stared at me.
For a moment, she looked as though she couldn’t believe what she had just heard.
Then her expression darkened.
“You did this on purpose, didn’t you?”
I only smiled.
There was no point denying it.
Beside her, Naya stamped her little foot.
“Aunt Ava is such a bad woman! You’re so bad! I’m going to tell Uncle that you bullied me and Mom!”
I shrugged, completely unbothered.
“Go ahead.”
Naya’s eyes widened.
I tilted my head toward Celine’s phone.
“If you’re so capable, call your uncle right now. Tell him exactly what I did.”
Celine’s fingers curled around her phone.
“Or are you afraid?”
Her face tightened.
She immediately pulled out her phone.
A smile spread across my face.
Perfect.

Logan was probably already dealing with the mess at the packhouse. The last thing he needed was Celine calling him over something as petty as this.
Especially now.
Because the herb shipment was her responsibility.
And she had made a very serious mistake.
I turned away before Celine could say another word.
Today really was a good day.
I had spent enough time building a quiet understanding with Alpha Kion to know exactly where he
stood with Logan.
Kiom hated him.
Not mildly.
Not secretly.
He hated Logan enough that, under the right circumstances, a conflict between their packs could
become very real.
But Kion trusted me.
As long as I remained between them, he had no reason to turn his anger toward our pack.
And now, completely by accident-or perhaps because someone had been too careless-the perfect
opportunity had landed right in my hands.
Luna Auri of Mistfen Pack had sent a shipment of herbs to our healers. Our pack had paid for them,
and they were meant to be sorted and checked before being distributed.
But Celine had been desperate to prove herself.
She wanted to be the one who saved the pack.
The one everyone praised.
The shining star who could do no wrong.
So she had rushed the process.
Somewhere along the way, the herbs from Mistfen Pack had been mixed with a shipment belonging to
Celestial Pack.

The problem was that no one had properly checked them before they were sent to the healers.
By now, some of those herbs had probably already been used to treat injured warriors.
Which meant this wasn’t a simple filing mistake anymore.
It was a packhouse crisis.
And Celine was at the center of it.
I couldn’t help the smile tugging at my lips.
“Looks like Logan’s mistress really does know her work.”
I chuckled under my breath and headed home.
For once, I had nothing to worry about.
So why not celebrate?
By eight that evening, the moon had climbed high enough to silver the treetops.
I stepped outside and breathed in the cool night air.
Something restless stirred beneath my skin.
Karla.
My wolf was already awake, eager for the freedom waiting beyond the pack walls.
I smiled.
“Alright. Let’s go.”
The shift came naturally.
Moments later, paws pressed into the earth as Karla stretched beneath the moonlight.
The familiar rush of strength filled my limbs.
No responsibilities.
No pack politics.
No Celine.

Just the woods, the rnoon, and the night.
I took off between the trees, the cool night air rushing through my fur as I finally felt completely free. Then my ears twitched at the faint rustle ahead. A heartbeat. A quick movement in the undergrowth. My instincts immediately tocked onto it.
A rabbit burst from the bushes and Karla sprang after it. It darted between the trees, but my wolf was faster. Her paws barely seemed to touch the ground before we closed the distance. With one final
leap, I caught it.
I slowed to a trot, the rabbit held securely between my jaws, a pleased warmth settling through me.
Tonight couldn’t have been better.
I was already thinking about roasting my catch when another thought struck me.
Dinrier.
I stopped in my tracks.
I hadn’t prepared anything at my new place.
Of course.
I lowered the rabbit and shifted behind a cluster of bushes. Once I was human again, I reached into my
pocket and pulled out my phone.
I opened Lucian’s chat.
Me: Hi. I’m sorry, but I haven’t cooked dinner yet.
His reply came almost immediately.
Lucian: Where are you?
Me: I’m in the woods.
There was a short pause.
Lucian: Hunting?
I smiled.
Me: Yes. Today is a good day, so I decided to treat myself
He didn’t ask what made today special.
He didn’t ask what I was celebrating.

He simply replied.
Lucian: Okay.
I stared at the screen for a moment before letting out a quiet laugh.
Always so effortlessly calm.
I slipped my phone back into my pocket and looked up.

The night sky stretched endlessly above me, scattered with stars while the moon watched over the
forest.
I smiled.
I didn’t need anything more than this.
I shifted again.
Karla took over, and I picked up my catch before settling beneath the trees.
For a while, there was nothing but the quiet forest, the glow of the moon, and the satisfaction of
knowing that, somewhere back at the packhouse, Celine was finally being forced to answer for her
mistake.
Tonight, at least, I could enjoy my victory in peace.
