AVA’S POINT OF VIEW

“From today onward, Celine is demoted to the Gamma’s territory. You will serve among the wolves under his command.”
The moment the words left my mouth, the room fell silent.
Not the ordinary kind of silence. This was the kind that swallowed every breath, every shuffle of feet, every whisper before it could even begin.
Someone finally found their voice.
“Luna Ava…”
“And what gives you the right to do that?”
The calm voice cut through the silence.
I slowly turned.
Axel.
Logan’s Beta.
He stood several feet away, his expression unreadable, though the coldness in his eyes made his disapproval perfectly clear.
I studied him for a moment.
So this was where he had been all this time.
When Celine had made one reckless decision after another, where had he been? When the pack had been left to deal with the consequences, where had he been?
Now, suddenly, he had found his voice.
My lips curved into a humorless smile.
“I’m the Luna,” I said, letting my gaze settle firmly on him. “That gives me the authority to make decisions concerning this pack.”
Axel’s expression hardened.
“But-”

“I’d advise you to stay out of this.”
I took a step toward him, keeping my voice calm despite the warning in my words.
“Unless you want me to start questioning whether you deserve your position as Beta.”
For the first time, something flickered across his face.
His confidence faltered for only a second before something darker settled into his eyes.
Then, to my surprise, he smiled.
“Go ahead.”
I raised an eyebrow.
“I only take orders from one person.”
Interesting.
So Axel knew exactly where Logan stood.

And apparently, he had no intention of recognizing my authority simply because I wore the Luna’s title.
I held his gaze for a moment before deciding he wasn’t worth another second of my attention.
I turned back to Celine.
“Pack your things and move to the Gamma’s territory.”
Her face had gone pale.
“Luna, 1-”
“Do you realize the mistake you’ve made?”
She froze.
I stepped closer, watching the color drain completely from her face
“Do you have any idea how much your carelessness could cost this pack?”
Celine opened her mouth, but no words came out.
Before she could find an answer, my phone rang.
I glanced at the screen.

Logan
Of course.
Axel must have already reported everything.
I accepted the call and lifted the phone to my ear.
“Ava, what are you doing?”
“What am I doing?” I repeated innocently.
A long, irritated sigh came through the other end.

“You demoted Celine to the Gamma’s territory and threatened to remove Axel from his position as my Beta.”
I smiled faintly.
“I wouldn’t exactly call Celine’s new position a demotion.”
“Ava.”
His voice sharpened.
“How could you do this? Celine graduated from one of the most prestigious academies in the region. You have no right to make her inferior to the Gamma.”
“And Axel?”
My smile disappeared.
“Do you have any idea how long he’s been my Beta?” Logan demanded. “How dare you threaten to take away his position?”
I let the silence stretch between us.
His breathing grew heavier,
Then his voice softened.
“Ava…”
I said nothing.
“I’m doing this for your own good,” he continued. “You’re the Luna. Everyone already knows how high your position is. You don’t need to keep proving yourself.”

Istared ahead, my fingers tightening around the phone.
Everyone knows how high my position is?
If only that were true.
No one in this pack treated me like their Luna.
Not Celine.
Not Axel.
Not even Logan.
“You don’t need to prove yourself,” Logan continued. “If you keep acting like this, people in the pack are going to become dissatisfied with you.”
A quiet laugh escaped me.
“Is that what you’re worried about?”
He fell silent.
“Celine approved the healers to use herbs that don’t belong to this pack,” I said, my voice steady. “She didn’t check where they came from, who they belonged to, or what the consequences would be before giving the order.”
I paused.
“Those herbs belong to Alpha Kion. Do you have any idea what happens if he decides to demand compensation? Or what happens if he decides that our pack deliberately took something that belonged to him?”
Logan didn’t answer.
“The fact that he hasn’t taken action yet doesn’t mean he never will.”
Silence.
I could almost picture him searching for an excuse.
“What Celine did was reckless,” I continued. “She was too careless to verify the herbs before sending them to the healers, and now this entire pack could suffer a serious financial loss because of her mistake.”
“Ava-

“If this were any other pack, she wouldn’t be standing there waiting for a simple demotion. She would be facing a much harsher punishment.”
I glanced at Celine
She stood completely still, her hands clenched at her sides.
“I’m only being this lenient because she’s your sister.”
That shut him up.
“And as for your Beta,” I added, “he had no right to question my authority in front of the entire pack. I warned him accordingly.”
There was nothing but silence on the other end.
For once, Logan had no argument.
I ended the call before he could find one.
When I looked up, Celine was staring toward the entrance.
Her eyes kept darting toward the door.
Waiting.
Hoping.
Perhaps expecting Logan to appear at any moment and undo everything I had just decided.
Her knight in shining armor.
Except he never came.
I turned away from her and walked out, leaving the room behind me in stunned silence.

I headed toward the Gamma’s office to collect a few pack documents and inform him of Celine’s new assignment.
“Luna Ava,”
The Gamma immediately straightened and dipped his head respectfully.
I smiled slightly at the gesture.
At least someone in this pack remembered what the Luna’s position meant.

“I need the latest pack documents,” I said.
“Of course.”
He moved to his desk and gathered the files before handing them to me.
I took them, glancing briefly at the stack in my
hands.
Nyx used to have a crush on him.

She’d never admitted it outright, but I’d noticed the way her eyes followed him whenever he entered a
room. Eventually, she must have realized he didn’t see her the same way.
Whatever feelings she’d had seemed to disappear after that.
I was about to leave when I felt someone approach.
I looked up.
Logan.
He stepped outside the den, his expression dark and his jaw tense.
I followed him.
The moment we were alone, he turned toward me.
“Ava,” he said, frustration and pleading tangled together in his voice. “Can you please leave Celine
alone?”
I stared at him.
“She’s my sister,” he continued. “And she’s your sister-in-law. You’re higher than her. You should be
more accommodating.”
He exhaled heavily.
“Just forget about the demotion. Pretend it never happened.”
Before I could answer, his phone rang.
Logan frowned and pulled it out.
He glanced at the screen before answering.
“Hello?”
He listened.

“Yes, this is Alpha Logan.”
His expression slowly changed.

“This is Anaya’s homeroom teacher from Silvercrest Pup Academy, a voice said through the phone. “Anaya’s mother contacted us and said she wanted to withdraw Anaya from the academy, but she didn’t give us a reason. We’ve been unable to reach her since then. Anaya listed your number as her emergency contact, so we wanted to know if something had happened.”
Logan went completely still.
“Withdraw?”
The word came out barely above a whisper.
I pressed my lips together, fighting the smile threatening to appear.
Of course.
One problem after another.
Logan rubbed his forehead and thanked the teacher before ending the call.
His eyes immediately found mine.
“Ava…”
I waited.
“Can you do me a favor?”
“What kind of favor?”
“Could you go to the pup academy for me?” His voice carried an urgency that hadn’t been there moments ago. “Talk to the teachers. Tell them we have no intention of withdrawing Anaya. Just calm things down until I can sort everything out.”
I studied him for a moment,
Then I nodded.
“Okay, I’ll go now.”
He blinked.
For a second, he looked genuinely surprised that I had agreed so easily.

“Thank you,” he said quickly. “Please wait for me there. I’ll come as soon as I finish dealing with a few
things.
“Okay.”
I gave him a small smile before turning away.
I already knew what those few things were.
He was going back to Celine.
He was going to plead with her, soothe her anger, and probably promise to fix the mess I had just
made.
I couldn’t help the smile that touched my lips.
Fine.
I would go to Silvercrest Pup Academy.
And somehow, I had a feeling that what happened there was going to be very interesting.
