LOGAN’S POINT OF VIEW
“Are you out of your fucking mind?!”

The proposal slammed onto my desk hard enough to make the papers underneath it shift.
I stared at Ava, my jaw tightening as I picked up the document and scanned the figures again.
No.
There was no way she was serious.
Even Fenrir stirred uneasily inside me, his irritation rolling through the bond like a low growl.
Beside me, Celine let out a quiet, mocking laugh.
“You thought being my sister-in-law would be such a great idea?” she said, leaning back in her chair. “And this is all you came up with?”
I shot her a warning look.
I didn’t want to hear her gloating, but this time, I couldn’t deny it.
Ava had gone too far.
She knew exactly how carefully I had been managing the pack’s funds. Every coin had been
accounted for, especially the money we were putting toward expanding our herb supply and improving
the pack’s medical resources.
Yet she had walked into the meeting and offered Alpha Kion a deal that could drain everything we had
worked to build.
“Ava.” I dropped the proposal back onto the table. “Did you even consider the pack’s interests before making this decision? You could have spoken to me first.”
Her expression barely changed.
That calmness only made my temper flare hotter.
I couldn’t believe she had the nerve to make such a proposal in front of Alpha Kion without discussing
it with me.
“We improved the remedy within a week and achieved root-level healing,” Ava said evenly. “If our pack’s herbalists could brew a tincture with that level of healing power, we wouldn’t have needed to lie

about the results in the first place.”
Her gaze shifted briefly toward the proposal.
“And we certainly wouldn’t have needed to use his herbs instead of ours.”
My fingers curled against the edge of the desk.
She was right about that much.
But being right didn’t make the solution any less reckless.

“This is the only option we have if we want to salvage our reputation,” Ava continued. “If we don’t, we’ll
face enormous compensation fees. Worse, once our reputation is destroyed, rebuilding it won’t be nearly as simple.”
“Your solution will cost us even more!”
My voice echoed through the room.
“You’re asking us to pay ten times the compensation right from the beginning. What exactly do you expect us to do if this fails?”
Celine immediately seized the opportunity.
“Yes, Luna Ava. No matter how badly you want to prove yourself, you can’t gamble with the entire pack.”
She crossed her arms, her eyes narrowing.
“Anyone who didn’t know better would think you wanted my brother’s family to go bankrupt.”
Ava’s eyes settled on her.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Then Ava smiled.
It was polite.
Too polite.
“Don’t forget, Celine. It was my father-in-law who humbly asked me to help clean up this mess. That’s
the only reason I agreed.”
Celine’s expression stiffened.

Ava tilted her head slightly.
“So tell me. Are you saying you don’t trust me?”
She paused.
“Or do you not trust my father-in-law’s judgment?”
Celine’s lips parted, but no words came out.
I felt the tension in the room tightening by the second.

The moment Ava brought my father into the argument, I knew there was no point continuing.
I pushed my chair back and walked toward the window, pulling out my phone.
If anyone could make sense of this mess, it was my father.
The call connected after two rings.
“Dad,” I said immediately. “Ava already made an offer to Alpha Kion, and he agreed to it.”
1 swallowed.
“What are we going to do?”
Silence.
I stared through the window, watching the trees outside sway gently in the evening breeze.
My father didn’t answer.
For several seconds, all I could hear was the faint sound of his breathing through the phone.
I couldn’t blame him.
I barely knew what to think myself.

Ava had somehow managed to turn one mistake into an even bigger gamble, and now I was standing
in the middle of it with no idea how to stop her.
Finally, Dad spoke.
“Let Ava do it.”
My head snapped up.
“What?”

“Since I chose her, it means I trust her.”
I gripped the phone tighter.
“But what if she messes everything up?”
A headache was already beginning to pound behind my eyes.
Dad’s voice dropped, becoming colder.
“Then we’ll ask Evander to take charge when the time comes.”
I slowly exhaled.
That answer eased some of the pressure sitting on my chest.

Our families had been connected for years, but my father’s relationship with Evander went far beyond
ordinary friendship.
My father had once saved his life.
A debt like that wasn’t something a man simply forgot.
If Ava’s decisions eventually caused serious damage to the family business, Evander wouldn’t stand
by and watch it collapse. At least, that was the reassurance I clung to.
“Oh, right,” Dad added. “There’s one more thing. You can tell Ava and Celine about it.”
“What is it?”
“I’ll tell you later. Just make sure they’re there.”
The call ended.
I slipped my phone back into my pocket and returned to the table.
Celine immediately leaned forward.
“What did Dad say?”
“He said Ava can go ahead with the plan.”
Her eyes widened.
“What?”
Ava, however, merely smiled.

“Then you’ll both have to cooperate with me,” she said. “Especially you, Celine. Don’t hold me back.”
Celine’s mouth tightened.
I decided to ignore the tension between them.
“Oh, right. Ava, Celine…”
Celine looked at me.
Ava didn’t.
She was looking down at her phone, her fingers moving across the screen.
Something about that bothered me.
I couldn’t explain why.
Maybe I was simply being overly sensitive, but lately, I had noticed a change in Ava. She wasn’t as
attentive toward me as she used to be.
“Dad also said there’s going to be a family dinner tomorrow.”
“A family dinner?” Celine repeated.
Ava finally lifted her eyes from her phone.
“Yes. The location has already been chosen. It’s at the Garden Feast Hall in Little Den.”
I leaned against the table.
“Dad said the three of you have had some misunderstandings lately because of work. But at the end
of the day, you’re family, and you’re all trying to do what’s best for the pack.”
I shrugged.
“So he wants everyone to get together and clear the air.”
Celine’s expression changed immediately.
“The Garden Feast Hall?”
Her eyes practically lit up.
“That place is ridiculously expensive.”

Then she turned toward me.
“Logan, after work, have the maid pick up Naya. Then you’re coming shopping with me. I need a new
dress.”
I couldn’t help but smile.
“Sure.”
Before I could say anything else, a thought crossed my mind.
“Ava, why don’t you come with us too?”
Celine’s mouth opened.
She clearly wanted to ask why I was inviting Ava, but one look from me made her stop.
She knew exactly what I meant.
I couldn’t buy a dress for my sister and walk into a family dinner without getting something for my
mate.
Ava looked up from her phone.
“Okay,” she said simply. “I’ll go.”
A small breath escaped me.
For some reason, I hadn’t realized I’d been holding it.
If Ava refused, I would’ve started wondering whether she was deliberately avoiding me.
But she had agreed.
She was willing to spend the evening shopping with us.
That had to mean she still cared about me.
Fenrir gave an exaggerated roll of his eyes inside my head.
I ignored him.
Ava still cared.
She had to.
Why else would she want to be around me, even when Celine was there?

My eyes lingered on her.
There was no denying that Ava was beautiful.

Her playful personality could be frustrating, and there were plenty of things about her that drove me insane, but when it came to her appearance and family background, there was little anyone could
criticize.
If I hadn’t sworn Celine would be the only woman I’d love for the rest of my life, I don’t think I could’ve
gone four years without touching her.
But I had made that promise.
And I intended to keep it.
Still, I found myself staring.
“Logan.”
Celine’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
She slipped her arm through mine.
“It’s getting stuffy in here. Let’s go.”
I allowed her to pull me toward the door.
Yet before I stepped outside, I looked back once more.
Ava had already returned her attention to her phone.
I frowned before following Celine out.
After work, I took both Celine and Ava to the mall as promised.
Since it was only a family dinner, I hadn’t expected us to spend much.
I was wrong.
The moment Celine saw Ava pick up a dress, she wanted something better.
If Ava chose one, Celine chose another.
If Ava found something more expensive, Celine immediately found something even more expensive.
Eventually, Ava started playing the same game.

And somehow, what I had expected to be a quick shopping trip turned into an expensive competition
neither woman seemed willing to lose.
By the time we reached the counter, I stared at the final amount on the screen.
Hundreds of thousands.
For two dresses.
Different styles.
Exactly the same price.
I rubbed my forehead.
At least it was over.
Or so I thought.
Once we left the store, I expected Ava to come home with us.
Instead, she stopped.
“I have plans with Nyx.”
I frowned.
“You’re meeting Nyx now?”
“I already made plans.”
There was no hesitation in her voice.
Before I could argue, she lifted the shopping bag and pulled out the dress I had just bought for her.
She held it up slightly, inspecting it before looking at me.
“Thank you for the dress,” she said with a small smile. “I really like it.”
Then she turned and walked away.
I stood there watching her disappear into the crowd.
A strange irritation crawled up my chest.

Lhad just spent hundreds of thousands on her, and she still chose to leave instead of coming home
with me.
Worse, she was going to meet Nyx.
Nyx was notorious for spending time around men and rogue wolves. I didn’t like the idea of Ava being
there, especially at night./
“Just leave her, Logan.”
Celine’s soft voice drew my attention.
She slipped her hand into mine.
“She isn’t worthy of you.”
I locked at her.
For some reason, her words didn’t settle the way they should have.
Instead, my gaze drifted back toward the direction Ava had gone.
I couldn’t help but think Celine was so much better.
She saved me. She chose to carry my child.
She stayed when she had every reason to leave.
I glanced down at her hand in mine.
“Come on,” I murmured.
I opened the car door for her.
“Let’s go home.”
She smiled before pulling me inside the car with her. At first, I tried to resist, but eventually, I gave in,
allowing her to take the lead as we settled into the backseat.
