Chapter 5

AVA’S POINT OF VIEWO

I returned to the packhouse the following morning.

The moment I stepped into my office, I stopped.

My desk-my space-was already occupied.

Celine sat comfortably behind it as though she’d always belonged there, while my belongings had been carelessly shoved into a cardboard box and dumped on the floor like they were nothing more than discarded junk. A slow ache spread through my chest, and beneath my skin, my wolf stirred restlessly, pacing in circles at the blatant disrespect.

Do something, Ava.

My wolf, Karla, snarled inside me.

Her claws scraped against the edges of my mind, restless and furious, reacting to the humiliation she could feel just as deeply as I could.

“Luna Ava.” Tala dipped her head, though there wasn’t an ounce of sincerity in her expression. “I’ve already packed all your belongings. They’re right here. From now on, you’ll be working from the Delta’s territory. Those were Alpha Logan’s orders.”

My gaze drifted to the battered box.

Every file I’d arranged. Every notebook. Every small piece of the office I’d spent years building… tossed together without care.

Though I hardly ever came to the packhouse, whenever I did, I made sure my time there was productive. I worked hard for him, handling everything I could and doing my best to support him as his

Luna,

Tala had always been assigned as my assistant whenever I worked from the packhouse.

I still remembered how she’d shamelessly thrown herself at Logan shortly after joining the pack. Back then, Logan hadn’t spared her a second glance. I’d foolishly believed it was because he respected our

bond.

Now I knew the truth.

It wasn’t loyalty.

It was because the only woman he’d ever been willing to betray me for… was Celine.

“Besides,” Tala continued with a smug smile, “you barely come to the packhouse anyway. Such a large office would only go to waste. It’s much better suited for Miss Celine. Alpha Logan really made the right decision.”

The mockery beneath her words was impossible to miss.

As though I’d contributed nothing to this pack.

My wolf growled low inside me.

This pack had survived because of more than strength alone.

Our greatest asset had always been medicinal herbs. During dry seasons, when harvests failed and neighboring packs guarded their supplies, our rankings would plummet. Herbs required land, labor… and money.

Money this pack never had.

Until I came.

I invested in expanding our farms, built trade routes with neighboring packs, and secured enough funding to keep our healers supplied year-round. Because of those decisions, our warriors never lacked treatment after battles, our healers flourished, and our pack climbed into the top ten across the

region.

Even though Logan was obsessed with securing a position in the Top Three Alpha rankings…

I could still hear Logan’s voice from years ago.

“Without you, Ava… none of this would’ve been possible.”

Now the same people who had benefited from my work acted as though I’d been nothing but dead

weight.

The office door opened.

Then Celine began walking toward us, dressed in an elegant cream-colored business suit. For the first time, she wasn’t wearing one of those overly tight dresses that demanded attention. She caught me looking and offered a practiced smile that never reached her eyes.

“Luna,” she said sweetly, smoothing invisible wrinkles from her sleeve. Alpha Logan bought this for me as a welcome gift. It’s quite expensive… the outfit, the shoes, everything. I hope you don’t mind.”

Before I could answer, Tala practically sighed in admiration.

“Alpha Logan is so thoughtful to his sister. Miss Celine is practically the perfect sister-in-law.”

If Tala knew the truth about Logan and Celine, she wouldn’t be standing there smiling so proudly.

I looked Celine up and down before letting out a soft hum.

Before she even mentioned the price, already knew exactly how much it would cost.

“Only five thousand dollars?” I said calmly. “Alpha Logan is surprisingly stingy.”

Silence.

Both women stared at me.

Then I smiled.

“I actually asked Logan to buy it for you as a welcome gift. Since you’re helping out in my pack, I

thought my sister-in-law deserved something nice.”

Celine’s lips parted, but no words came out.

The color draining from her face was almost satisfying.

I caught the slight twitch at the corner of her mouth, and my wolf settled with quiet satisfaction.

Tala turned to leave.

“Stop.”

My voice wasn’t loud.

She froze instantly.

“You packed my office without my permission.” I gestured toward the box. “Now you’ll unpack everything and put them exactly where it belongs.”

Her eyes widened.

“But, Luna-”

“I didn’t ask for your opinion.”

The authority in my voice echoed through the room.

Even Karla lifted her head proudly.

Tala swallowed the rest of her complaint.

Before she could move, a familiar seent drifted through the hallway.

Logan.

The bond tugged painfully in my chest, but all it did now was leave a bitter taste in my mouth.

He walked toward us, his expression unreadable.

“Logan!”

Without hesitation, Celine slipped her arm through his in full view of everyone.

Logan’s eyes immediately found mine.

He was waiting.

Waiting for anger.

Jealousy.

Pain.

I gave him nothing.

Only silence.

Something flickered across his face before he awkwardly removed Celine’s arm.

“Your sister-in-law is still here,” he muttered.

Celine’s smile faltered.

I tilted my head innocently.

“It’s fine. She’s your sister. Sisters cling to their brothers all the time.”

The discomfort on Logan’s face deepened.

“So…” he cleared his throat. “What’s going on here?”

“Luna Ava asked me to move all her belongings back into her office,” Tala answered, pouting slightly. “But Miss Celine just became the pack’s financial and marketing overseer. She needs my help.”

Before Logan could respond, Celine stepped forward.

“I have so much work to learn. Tala is more useful with me.”

Then she looked at me with fake sympathy.

“Besides, Luna Ava left quite a bit unfinished.”

Was she serious?

Logan rubbed the back of his neck.

“Tala… help Celine first. Ava, you can organize your new office yourself.”

Of course.

The answer didn’t surprise me anymore.

After everything that had happened, I had already stopped expecting anything different from him.

“Sure.”

My calm response seemed to catch Logan off guard.

His brows lifted slightly, and for a brief moment, he looked as though he had been expecting anger, an argument, anything but the quiet acceptance I gave him.

Before he could say another word, the doors suddenly opened, and a warrior hurried into the room.

“Alpha Logan.”

Everyone’s attention immediately shifted toward him.

The warrior bowed slightly before delivering the news.

“Alpha Kion has agreed to meet with you before sunset.

Logan’s expression instantly changed.

The tension in his face disappeared, replaced by excitement and relief.

“That’s great!”

Beside him, Tala clapped her hands eagerly, her smile widening at the news.

“I knew Miss Celine would bring good fortune to the pack… unlike certain people.”

My wolf growled.,

Someone really needed to humble Tala.

Alpha Kion was one of the strongest Alphas in the region. Securing a meeting with him could strengthen alliances between packs.

Unable to hide his excitement, Logan reached for Celine’s hand.

“Celine…” he laughed. “You’re really my lucky star.”

She lifted her chin and shot me a triumphant look.

Then she smiled sweetly,

“Luna Ava, I still have a few questions about the finances and marketing. You’ll help me afterward,

won’t you?”

“Alpha Logan.”

The messenger spoke again, drawing every eye back to him.

“Alpha Kion specifically requested to meet with Luna Ava.”

The room fell into an uncomfortable silence.

Every pair of eyes turned toward me, waiting for my reaction.

Before I could even open my mouth, Logan answered for me.

“She’ll be available.”

My gaze slowly shifted toward him.

For a moment, I simply stared, letting his words settle between us.

Then I tilted my head slightly.

“And who decided that for me?”

The confidence on his face faltered.

His expression tightened, but he didn’t respond.

Without waiting for an answer, I turned to Tala.

“Move my belongings back into my office.”

Then I looked at Celine.

“I’m going to discuss the project with Alpha Kion. Since you’re the new pack marketer and overseer, I’m sure you can handle the work here.”

Celine immediately grabbed Logan’s sleeve.

“You’ll be fine,” Logan interrupted.

Then he looked at Tala.

“What are you waiting for? Put Luna Ava’s office back the way it was.”

I smiled, a quiet sense of victory curling through me.
