LOGAN’S POINT OF VIEWE

We had arrived at Blackwood Pack yesterday, but today was the day Thad actually been looking
forward to.
The dinner at Sovereign Pack.
Calling it a dinner was honestly an understatement. Half of Blackwood seemed to be talking about it,
and by the time we arrived at the restaurant, I understood why.
The place was packed.
Wolves from different packs filled the area, their laughter and conversations blending together beneath the glow of the lights. Some remained in their human forms, dressed in expensive gowns and
tailored suits, while others had shifted into their wolves. The entire event had an almost magical
atmosphere to it. Watching wolves perform alongside humans was something I had never seen
before, and even Fenrir had gone unusually quiet, taking it all in.
Back at Silvercrest, I was doing my best to focus on more important things.
I had already started pouring money into advertising and marketing for our upcoming herb launch.
Even though development hadn’t officially begun yet, I wanted Alphas and Lunas from other packs to
know what was coming before the herbs even hit the market. By the time we launched, I wanted them
waiting for it.
And if everything went according to plan, Silvercrest would never have to worry about money again.
Not with Meade Alder working with us now.
“It’s so beautiful,” Celine breathed beside me.
I glanced around, and despite myself, I felt that same pang.
Fenrir did too.
I understand why they like it here, he admitted.
I frowned. Don’t start.
Ever since Celine and Anaya arrived at Blackwood, they hadn’t been able to shut up about the place.
Everything was beautiful. Everything was clean. Everything was elegant.
Blackwood this. Blackwood that.

It was starting to get on my nerves.
“I love this place!” Anaya said excitedly, practically bouncing beside us.
Celine smiled and smoothed down her dress.

To be fair, we had all gone out of our way to look good tonight. We were dressed in our finest clothes, and I had made sure nothing about us looked cheap.
Still, standing there among some of the guests, I couldn’t help noticing how effortlessly some people carried themselves. As if they hadn’t even tried and still managed to look like they belonged in a place like this.
But I was satisfied with how I looked.
Mostly.
I had only one thing on my mind.
Please let the Alpha of this pack show up tonight.
I didn’t ask the Moon Goddess for much. But if she was listening, I really needed this.
Meeting the Alpha of Blackwood could open doors for Silvercrest. One conversation. One connection. One opportunity.
That was all I needed.
“Logan, look.”
Celine suddenly grabbed my arm and pointed toward one side of the restaurant.
My gaze followed hers.
People were heading toward a more secluded section of the building. The entrance was guarded, and the atmosphere around it screamed exclusivity.
“People are going into that VIP section,” Celine said, her eyes widening.
I studied the area. “Are you sure it isn’t reserved for the Alpha and his family?”
Celine shook her head quickly. “No. Look.”
She pointed toward a woman speaking to one of the attendants. I watched her hand something over
before she was escorted inside,
“She just made a payment. And I don’t think the Alpha would be here anyway. What would the Alpha

be doing in a restaurant now?”
She has a point, Fenrir said.
I ignored him.

“You should both be praying the Alpha actually comes here,” I said. “If he does and I get the chance to speak with him, do you know how big that would be for Silvercrest?”
Celine nodded, but her gaze wandered around the room again.
“Yes. But Logan, you’re not the only Alpha here. There are other Alphas who are even greater-”
I shot her a look.
She immediately smiled.
“But don’t worry,” she said sweetly. “If he comes, we’ll definitely know. And you’ll get your moment.”
Her smile widened.
“Besides, remember? I’m your good luck.”
I couldn’t help smiling back.
There was something about the way Celine said things that always made them sound possible.
Then her expression changed again.
“But seriously, Logan.” She stomped her foot lightly. “Let’s go to the VIP section.”
My smile faded.
I looked toward the entrance.
The problem wasn’t that I didn’t want to go.
The problem was that I was low on cash.
Very low,
I had already spent a ridiculous amount traveling here, paying for Anaya, and investing in the upcoming herb business. Most of my money was tied up in a project that hadn’t even started
generating profit yet.
If the herbs became successful, I wouldn’t be anywhere close to broke.
And I was confident they would be successful.

But confidence didn’t exactly put money back into my pocket tonight.
Celine, unfortunately, didn’t seem to understand that.
“Logan,” she dragged out my name, looking at me with those pleading eyes.
I sighed.
Damn it.
“Fine,” I muttered.
Her face immediately brightened as we made our way toward the VIP section.

I approached one of the attendants and asked about the seating. The man gave me a polite smile.
“Sovereign Restaurant is divided into different viewing sections,” he explained. “The Sovereign Viewing Seat costs five million. The Sovereign Premium Seat costs ten million, while the Sovereign Royal Seat
costs twenty million.”
I stared at him.
He continued as if he hadn’t just listed prices that made my stomach tighten.
“Guests with reservations, recognized status, or special invitations are placed in the Royal section and
receive a complimentary meal.”
I slowly turned my head and looked around.
Now I understood exactly why everyone kept talking about Blackwood Pack.
Because what the hell?
1
Even some of the wealthiest Alphas I knew wouldn’t casually throw money around like this.
“Five million,” I said quickly. “We’ll take the Sovereign Viewing Seat.”
The words barely left my mouth before I felt the painful sting of paying for it.
Fenrir was silent.
Which somehow made it worse.
As we were escorted toward our seats, I caught Celine looking longingly toward the Royal section. Her eyes practically sparkled as she watched the few people walking there.
I pretended not to notice.

Then Anaya suddenly pointed.
“Aunty!”
I turned.
And froze.

Ava.
Of course it was Ava.
Except she wasn’t alone.
She was with the same man who had somehow convinced me to spend three million at Nyxelle’s
useless shop.
The irritation that rose inside me was immediate.
She had told me she wanted to rest.
Yet here she was, standing beside another man as though nothing had happened.
Don’t jump to conclusions, Fenrir warned.
I ignored him.
What made everything worse was the way they were being treated.
Guards and wolves surrounded them, guiding them through the restaurant as people stepped aside to
make room. It was almost as if they were royalty.
Greek gods, even.
It would be nearly impossible to get close enough for a conversation.
“What the hell?”
“Logan, who is that man?” Celine asked nervously. “Why is Ava with him?”
I watched the man again,
The way people looked at him,
The way the staff rushed to attend to him.
The quiet respect surrounding him.

There was money there.
Influence too.
A strange, unwelcome feeling tightened in my chest.
I wouldn’t call it jealousy./
Because the man wasn’t even all that.

“Don’t worry about him,” I said dismissively. “He’s nobody. I met him at Nyxelle’s bar. It seems he
works there.”
Even to my own ears, I didn’t sound convinced.
Think clearly, Fenrir said.
Ignored again.
“Ah?”
Celine’s shoulders relaxed almost immediately, and she let out a relieved laugh.
Then Ava turned.
Her eyes met mine.
For a second, neither of us looked away.
And what irritated me the most was that she didn’t look guilty.
She didn’t look caught.
Nothing.
The guts.
But there was no way I could approach her with all those guards around her.
And even if Ava somehow managed to approach me, that would create another problem.
I would have to explain why Celine and Anaya were here with me.
Worse, Ava might decide she wanted to join us.
And considering how much I had already spent tonight, that was the last thing I needed.
No.

She could enjoy whatever mysterious evening she had planned with her bar employee, and I would
deal with her later.
Any issues between us could wait until after tonight. When we returned to Silvercrest, I would confront
her properly.
Celine tugged at my sleeve, finally breaking my eye contact with Ava.
“Logan, let’s go in quickly,” she said. “You promised Anaya and me that you’d take us to see the Lunari
dancers. We can’t miss them.”
I glanced once more in Ava’s direction.
Then I exhaled.
“You’re right.”
Tonight was supposed to be about Silvercrest.
About opportunities.
About making connections that could change everything for my pack.
Ava could wait.
So, with Celine and Anaya beside me, I turned away and headed toward our seats.

I think it’s hilarious that he believes Lucien is a bar employee.
