The sight of Ava leaning toward that man and whispering something into his ear had my mood turning foul almost instantly.
My fingers tightened around the armrest.
First, he’d been with her at Nyx’s shop.
Now he was here with her too.
Who the fuck was he to keep following around a mated woman like that?
I stared at them from across the restaurant, my jaw grinding as Ava laughed at something he said. She looked entirely too comfortable beside him, as if she hadn’t just spent the past few weeks making my life more complicated than it already was.
I shut my eyes for a moment and leaned back in my chair, forcing myself to breathe through the
irritation clawing its way up my throat.
I didn’t have time for him right now.
But when I did?
I’d deal with him personally.
“Don’t worry about it too much,” Celine said beside me, her voice dripping with false nonchalance. “Anyway, he’s just a man. Ava has always been playful. You know that.”
My eyes remained fixed on Ava.
“However…” Celine continued, and I could practically hear the smile in her voice. “The minimum spending requirement for those seats is five million. Ava is really willing to spend money on a man.”
That was it.
The irritation I’d been trying to swallow suddenly tasted bitter.
I was already unhappy enough seeing Ava here with that bastard, but Celine’s words only poured fuel onto the fire burning beneath my skin.
I thought you were relieved she wasn’t sitting with you, Fenrir drawled lazily in my head.
Shut up.

His amusement brushed against my mind.
I leaned my head back against the chair, exhaling slowly through my nose as I tried to keep my expression under control
“Let’s stop talking about her,” I said coldly. “Today is supposed to be a big day for our family. I don’t want Ava’s name ruining/it.”
The moment the words left my mouth, Celine’s smile widened.
“Of course.”
We finally settled into our seats, but I couldn’t stop my eyes from drifting back toward Ava.
She was sitting down there.
In one of the best sections of the entire place.
How the fuck had she managed that?
Those weren’t ordinary seats. We hadn’t even been able to get close to the front rows, let alone the
premium section or the Royal seats.
And yet Ava was sitting there as though she belonged
As though twenty million meant nothing to her.
I knew Ava came from a wealthy family, but I hadn’t realized she was stupid enough to throw that kind of money around on some man who was probably playing her.
My jaw clenched.
That’s none of your business.
I forced myself to look away.
Forget about her.
That was exactly what I needed to do.
Anaya tugged on Celine’s arm, pulling me from my thoughts.
“Mum, when will the food be served? I’m so hungry.”
I glanced at her.
To be fair, she had a reason to complain. We’d all skipped breakfast because of the preparations for

this stupid feast, and the smell drifting through the restaurant wasn’t making things any easier.
“Wait a little longer,” Celine said, though impatience flickered briefly across her face. “Chefs at a place
like this take their time.
“But, Mum-”
“Why don’t you look around instead?” Celine cut in dismissively. “This place is an extremely rare sight.”
Anaya immediately began looking around, her curiosity replacing some of her impatience.
There wasn’t much for us to see from where we were sitting, though.
We were seated near the back, far from the best view. The premium and Royal sections were even farther ahead, and from our seats, spotting anything clearly was becoming increasingly difficult.
I rubbed a hand over my jaw.
I just hoped Anaya would at least be able to see the performing wolves.
I wasn’t in the mood to deal with another tantrum.
Especially when I was already trying to keep an eye out for their Alpha.
Rumors had been circulating that he was here tonight, but I hadn’t caught sight of him yet. I’d never
met the man before, but I doubted I’d have trouble recognizing him.
An Alpha like that wouldn’t walk around unnoticed,
There would be guards. An entourage. Something.
Either way, I’d get a signal when he arrived.
At least, I hoped I would.
From where we were sitting, however, I could barely see anything beyond the crowd.
“Mum,” Anaya suddenly said, “why can Aunty sit over there, but we can’t?”
My gaze snapped toward her.
For a second, something hot twisted in my chest.
Celine’s expression darkened with obvious disdain as she followed Anaya’s gaze toward Ava, and I felt my own face harden.
Ava probably couldn’t even see us from where she was sitting.

Still…
The sight of her there annoyed the hell out of me.
“So Ava really spent twenty million on just a seat?” Celine muttered.
My teeth clenched.
Where the fuck had she gotten that kind of money?

Here I was, watching my own expenses carefully, and Ava was sitting there spending lavishly on
something as ridiculous as a seat.
Something in me snapped.
I pushed myself to my feet.
I was going to confront her.
You better save yourself the embarrassment, Fenrir warned, his voice utterly uninterested.
I froze.
One step.
That was all I’d managed to take before reality caught up with me.
If word got out that I’d caused a scene at Sovereign, it wouldn’t just damage my reputation. It would reflect badly on my pack too.
And I had enough problems without giving people another reason to talk.
Swallowing the rage burning in my throat, I turned around and sat back down.
“Mommy, Mommy…” Anaya whined. “I want to sit in Aunty’s seat too. They can see so many good things from there. We can barely see anything from here.”
“Shut up!”
Celine’s sharp voice cracked through the air.
Anaya immediately fell silent, her lips pushing into a pout.
Then, finally, the first dishes began to arrive.
Anaya’s eyes lit up at the sight of the covered trays. Even my stomach tightened at the smell wafting through the air.

Finally
But instead of coming toward our section, the servers walked straight past us.
They headed for the Royal seats first.
Celine stared after them in disbelief.
“Why should we be served last when we arrived before everyone else?”
Her voice rose loud enough to draw attention.
Beside her, Anaya’s face crumpled.
And then she began to cry.
I closed my eyes.
Of course.

Her crying quickly drew the attention of nearby guests. Heads turned in our direction, and I felt my heat with humiliation.
I leaned closer to Celine, keeping my voice low but sharp.
“How do you raise your child? Why is she crying over something like this?”
Celine shot me a panicked look before immediately turning to Anaya.
“Stop crying,” she whispered, trying to coax her. “Do you want everyone looking at us?”
But Anaya only cried harder.
“Anaya.”
face
I called her name sharply, my face tightening into a scowl, but it was as though she couldn’t even hear me through her tears.
Thankfully, a server finally placed a dish on our table.
Before anyone could touch it, however, my phone rang.
Axel.
The moment I saw his name, I answered.
“Alpha!”

The panic in his voice instantly straightened my spine.
“Something terrible has happened! Something terrible has happened to the pack’s new launch!”
My heart dropped.
“What do you mean?”
The noise around me made it difficult to hear him properly.
“Axel? I can’t hear you clearly.”
“Alpha, I-”
The line crackled.
Then went dead.
I stared at the phone, my brows drawing together.
What the hell was he talking about?
We hadn’t even launched the new herb yet.
So what could possibly have gone wrong?
Unless…
My stomach twisted.
“What’s going on?” Celine asked.
I opened my mouth to answer, but my phone suddenly dinged.
A notification.
Then another.
And another.
My eyes dropped to the screen.
The first post at the top of the trending list had been made by the anonymous herb genius himself.
Meade Alder.
My pulse began to pound as I opened it.

Recently, there have been rumors claiming that I endorse Silvercrest Pack. I would like to formally clarify that I, “Meade Alder,” have never agreed to collaborate with Silvercrest Pack on their new herb launch, and I will not now or in the future. Anyone associating me with Silvercrest Pack is spreading false information. Please distinguish fact from rumor.
My blood turned cold.
Then I scrolled down.
Attached beneath the post was a screenshot.
A private conversation.
Between Meade Alder and Celine.
And there, clear as fucking day, was his explicit rejection of her proposal for collaboration.
For a moment, I couldn’t move.
The post had already gone viral.
Everyone would see it.
Every pack.
Every business.
Every fucking person who mattered.
The blood rushed violently through my ears.
I stood so abruptly that my chair scraped against the floor.
“Fuck!”
The word tore out of me before I could stop it.
Celine jumped.
I threw my phone onto the table in front of her.
She stared down at the screen.
The color drained from her face.
“No…” Her voice shook. “No. It’s impossible. This can’t be happening.”

My chest rose and fell heavily as anger surged through me, hot and suffocating.
“As you can clearly see, this post was made by Meade Alder himself”
Celine stared at the phone, completely speechless.
I could barely breathe.
All the effort. The preparations. The expectations surrounding the launch.
And now this.
Humiliation.
My gaze fell on Anaya.
She had stopped crying and was now quietly stretching her little hand toward the food, trying to take something from the plate while no one was paying attention.
Something inside me finally snapped.
“Eat.”
She froze.
I slammed my palm against the table.
“Eat! All you ever do is fucking eat!”
Anaya jerked back as though I’d struck her.
Her eyes widened.
Then her face crumpled, and the tears started all over again.
For one brief second, the entire table went silent.
And still, all I could hear was the furious pounding of my own heart.

AVANPOINT OF VIEW
The scene diessived into chase so quickly that I almost felt sorry for them:
In the end, Legan, Celine, and Anaya were escorted out of the restaurant by the staff before they could even touch their food.
Iwatched them disappear through the entrance, a slow, satisfied smile spreading across my lips.
Then I picked up my fork and took another bite.
The food practically melted on my tongue.
Ged, this was good
Maybe it was because the meal was actually delicious.
Or maybe it tasted even better because I had just watched Logan and his little entourage get thrown out of the very restaurant they had chosen for their grand celebration.
And perhaps the presence of the Alpha of Blackwood Pack sitting across from me made the whole experience just a little more satisfying.
Or perhaps Silvercrest’s Alpha is finally beginning to go bankrupt, Karla purred, sounding far too pleased with herself.
My smile widened.
Across the table, I caught Lucian watching me.
He didn’t say anything. He simply sat there, those dark, unreadable eyes fixed on my face as though he could see every thought I was trying to keep to myself.
That only made me smile harder.
A waiter arrived moments later, placing another dish before us. The aroma rose with the steam, rich and mouthwatering, and I immediately reached for my fork.
“This is good,” I murmured after taking a bite.
When I looked up, Lucian was still staring at me.
“What?”
He didn’t answer immediately.
His expression barely changed, but something in his gaze made it feel as though he was silently questioning me.
I lifted a brow. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Nothing,” he said at last.
Then, as if that settled everything, he turned his attention toward the front of the restaurant.
I stared at his profile for a moment.
Seriously?
The man was impossible.
Still, I smiled to myself and returned to my meal.
There was no way Lucian could have known about my last-minute decision to ruin Logan’s new launch.
Could he?
Meade Alder.
Me.
That was the part they didn’t know.
And they had no idea I was far from finished.
I had spent too long letting other people make decisions about my life-especially decisions involving Logan. But if he refused to accept my help, then I would make sure he regretted it.
I would help him rise to the top.
And when he finally got there, when he had everything he thought he wanted, I would be the one to bring him crashing back down.
Then, finally, I would be able to break the bond between us.
To unbind an Alpha.
The thought alone sent a strange thrill through me.
