The Rejected Luna’s Secret - Chapter (6)
Ch. The Rejected Luna’s Secret 6 The Rejected Luna’s Secret 6
Chapter 6
I almost laughed.
Our daughter?
What was he talking about? Memories surged like a tidal wave, threatening to pull me under.
Yes,
when I fell from that cliff all those years ago, I had been carrying his child.
That baby had been my last hope, the only light in an otherwise dark world.
But during the three days I was unconscious… the child was gone.
Along with the final piece of my heart that still believed in him.
That was why I didn’t hesitate to sign the bond-breaking deal when the time came.
Hailey is not his. She is mine and Adam’s.
I remember the day of my mother’s funeral. The world had turned entirely gray.
I lay draped over her casket, the sounds of crying and comforting words all blurred, distant and muffled like they were underwater.
In that moment, I felt like I had died too.
All I wanted was to join her.
But as I staggered out of the chapel, my steps uncertain and body drained, I collided with a strong,
warm chest.
I looked up into a pair of blue eyes and found my second chance mate. It was Adam.
He had just lost the only family he had in the world as well.
Sensing my despair, he gave me a crooked smile.
“What a coincidence. We’re both orphans now.”
“And you’re my fated mate.”
“How about we become each other’s family?”
That broke me. I threw myself into his arms and cried like I hadn’t in years.
He was the first person after losing my mom and child, who made me feel like I wasn’t alone
anymore.

in the days that followed, he treated me like a precious gift, saying I was his father’s last blessing him.
He poured his love and effort into pulling me out of the abyss.
Eventually, I fell for him hardly. Within half a year, I was pregnant with Hailey.
He kept our lives tightly guarded to protect us. No one outside our inner circle knew anything.
Had Joshua not chased me down that day, maybe no one would’ve found out at all.
Before I could respond, Adam had already shoved Joshua back half a step.
“Alpha Joshua, Hailey is my daughter. Mine and Allison’s.”
Joshua looked at me, utterly stunned. “No… that’s not possible.”
His voice cracked, dry and disbelieving. Why not?
Did he really still think I was that pathetic girl who only ever had eyes for him?
Did he believe I was incapable of loving someone else? Did he really convince himself Hailey was
his?
Talk about delusional.
Adam’s face went stone cold. “If you don’t leave now, Joshua, I can’t guarantee your pack will still
exist by tomorrow morning.”
“One word from me, and our two packs will be at war. Is that what you want?”
Joshua’s body swayed, his gaze still pinned on me. But under Adam’s icy stare, he finally clenched
his jaw and turned to leave.
Sarah rushed after him, only to have him shake her off again.
“Don’t touch me,” he snapped, his voice like a block of ice.
They hadn’t even gotten to the car before they were arguing.
“Joshua, are you blind? She has a kid! You really think there’s anything left between you two?”
“You’re dreaming if you think you can win her back. Can’t you see who she’s with now?”
“You still look at her like you’re in love. What am I, invisible?”
Joshua cut her off, irritated. “So what if I still love her?”

“Sarah, don’t forget how you got where you are now. You’re the one who forced me to make her give up the championship. You think I wanted to hurt her?”
“Her hands… her mother’s death… none of that’s clean on your end either.”
The night wind carried their argument clearly to my ears. Sarah froze for a moment, then sneered.
“Joshua, don’t act all high and mighty. That cup of boiling water laced with wolfsbane? You handed it to me yourself. Or have you forgotten?”
