Chapter 24

“Can you stop making a fuss? Now that I have gone abroad, you still won’t leave me alone?”

“Is it interesting to keep entangling like this? I just feel hypocritical!”

***

Julia spoke sentence by sentence.

She was filled with anger, and if we talk about hatred, of course, she hated. Weren’t all those pains caused by them?

Maren’s whole body trembled slightly as she looked at Julia, and tears began to flow uncontrollably.

Julia was taken aback. It was the first time she had seen her mother cry.

Did it make her hesitate for a moment, was it for her to shed tears?

It didn’t seem so important anymore.

“Can you go back with Mom?”

“Mom missed you.” Maren put away her previous sharpness and spoke to Julia in a gentle and kind

tone.

We have lived together for twenty years, and such a tone has never been used towards her, only

Carly.

What she used to desire so much, now she no longer cares about it.

Julia toned down her sharpness a bit.

“I’m not going back, what’s there to go back to in that house?”

She was also aware that her mother would not let her go home for no reason.

It was just that I came to know that she was the real daughter.

But it was all too late.

When she was five years old, to please her mother, she gave her favorite Barbie doll to her. Her mother accepted it, and Julia was happy all day long, until the next morning when the doll appeared

in Carly’s hands.

… –

At the age of twelve, she already knew how to make her father happy. They cared about grades, sc

she studied hard and ranked first in her class. But when she received the award and wanted to be

praised, all she got was indifference.

At the age of twenty, she got admitted to the best design school, but no one was happy for her. Instead, people kept pouring cold water on her, saying that she couldn’t walk this path.

The more they denied her, the more she wanted to prove herself.

And indeed, she became a little famous designer.

In that house, I was still an outsider without a voice.

How could she forget? She didn’t forgive all of this, but she learned how to please herself.

Watching Maren shed tears, she kept apologizing.

She had no emotions at all, she had been waiting for this apology for twenty years.

She tried hard to adjust her emotions so that no one could see, but Mrs. Rosales didn’t know when

she had sneaked up behind her.

His hand gently rested on her shoulder.

“It’s okay, baby.”

“It’s all better now,” was the comforting sentence that followed.

It made Julia unable to hold back her tears.

Mrs. Rosales held her in her arms, just like comforting her child.

Maren stood aside, but she felt uneasy in her heart.

She longed to hug her daughter so much, but she never had the chance.

After adjusting her emotions, Julia said, “Forget it, I don’t want to go back to that house anymore.”

“I found myself a home.”

Mrs. Rosales was the mother she found for herself.

Maren stepped forward, wanting to hold back, but Julia kept stepping back.

“You have already disturbed my life, understand?”

“My life had just begun.”

Maren felt a little sad, hearing Julia say such words with her ears.

“But Mom still loved you.”

“No mother wants her child to suffer outside.”

She was trying to defend herself, but Julia didn’t listen to a word.

Now Carly has been kicked out by them, she may be their only hope.

“I said, it was impossible to go back!”

As soon as these words were spoken, Maren became excessively sad and fainted on the ground.

“Auntie! What happened to you!”
