Chapter 2 

The moment Sabrina leaned in toward me, I suddenly grabbed the water glass on the table and hurled it at 

her without warning. 

But instead of panicking, she gave me a triumphant smile-as if everything was going according to plan. 

Just before the glass could hit her, she let herself fall against me, and from her sleeve, a retractable blade silently slipped into her hand. 

Before I could react, the cold steel had already plunged into my abdomen. 

Pain exploded through my body, blinding and immediate. Darkness began to swallow the edges of my vision. 

A split second later, the glass hit the floor and shattered. Sabrina collapsed onto the broken shards, pretending I’d shoved her. 

“Aah!” she screamed, bursting into tears. “It hurts… it hurts so much!” 

All the calm on Alexander’s face shattered. For the first time, I saw real panic in his eyes. 

He rushed over in a flash, slamming the call button in a frenzy. 

“Doctor! Somebody get a doctor-now!” 

His hands trembled as he gently lifted Sabrina, carefully brushing the glass shards from her skin, his voice 

trembling with worry. 

“Don’t be scared, Sabrina. The doctor’s on the way. Just hang in there, okay?” 

His eyes were filled with nothing but Sabrina. 

He didn’t even notice the blood pouring from the stab wound in my abdomen-soaking through the sheets beneath me in a bright, jarring red. 

Not until the doctors had treated Sabrina’s wounds did he finally remember I existed. 

He turned toward me at last, eyes blazing with fury. 

“Eleanor, have I been too good to you? Have I spoiled you so much that you think you can do whatever the 

hell you want?” 

I opened my mouth to explain. 

But before I could say a word, he yanked me off the bed and threw me to the floor.

My body slammed into the ground with a dull thud. 

The wound in my abdomen tore open again. A fresh wave of agony ripped through me, and I curled into a 

ball, shaking. 

Blood gushed from between my fingers, and my vision went red. 

Alexander looked down at me as I writhed in pain, his brows furrowing-just for a second. 

He took half a step forward. For a moment, it seemed like he might actually come to me. 

But then a weak voice called out behind him. “Alexander…”. 

It was Sabrina. 

Without hesitation, he turned back and ran to her. 

I watched his back as he walked away. And in that moment, my entire world went dark. 

When I opened my eyes again, they were gone. 

Both Alexander and Sabrina had already left the hospital. 

There was a message notification on my phone. 

I opened the chat and saw a single sentence staring back at me: [You’ll pay for what you did today.] 

Beneath it-a photo. 

Blood-soaked. 

And as the image came into focus, my whole body froze and my mind went completely blank.
