AVA’S POINT OF VIEW 

I stared at my phone, stunned. 

For a moment, I wondered if I had misheard him. 

“Logan-” 

The call ended. 

I lowered the phone slowly, my mind already racing. 

There was still time. 

Mooncrest Pack. Green Fairy. 

Nyx’s shop. 

I shot to my feet and hurried toward the door. Green Fairy had always been my perfect excuse whenever I slipped away to handle something I didn’t want Logan knowing about. Whenever he asked 

where I had been, I was always at Nyx’s shop. 

If he decided to check and discovered I hadn’t been there tonight, questions would follow. Suspicion. 

Trouble. 

And the last thing I needed right now was Logan digging into my life when I was already trying to figure out how to get a divorce and leave him with as little power over me as possible. 

I was exhausted, though. 

Karla… 

My wolf was already tired, and I hated the thought of pushing her when she needed rest. 

But I didn’t have much of a choice. 

With a sigh, I stepped outside and let the transformation take over. 

The shift swept through me, and seconds later, my paws struck the ground. 

Then I ran. 

The wind tore through my fur as I pushed myself forward, racing through the darkness as quickly as I 

could. For a while, I managed to ignore the burn in my muscles.

Then my lungs began to protest.” 

I slowed to a stop, panting hard. 

I’m so beat, Karla groaned, 

We’re almost there. 

You’ve said that before. 

I would have rolled my eyes if I could.

Mooncrest Pack was nowhere near Ashwood Pack, and Karla and I both knew it. We had pushed 

ourselves too hard already, and as much as I wanted to keep going, I wasn’t about to run her into the ground. 

Besides, night had already fallen. 

I stood there for a moment, trying to catch my breath. 

Then a shadow moved ahead of me. 

Every instinct in my body snapped awake. 

I lowered myself, ready to attack- 

Until the figure stepped into the moonlight. 

Lucian. 

He stood a few feet away from me in his wolf form, tall and imposing, his eyes glowing in the 

darkness. 

I froze. 

Then I blinked. 

Wait. 

I had never actually seen him in his wolf form before. 

Of all the times to notice that. 

Worst timing to figure that out, I thought. 

Yeah, I know, Karla muttered weakly. 

Lucian tilted his head.

“Do you need help?” 

“Yes.” 

The answer came out immediately. 

No pride. No pretending. No hesitation

I shifted back into my human form, letting Karla finally rest, and Lucian led me to his car. 

The moment I sank into the passenger seat, I nearly sighed with relief. 

Throughout the drive, Lucian focused on the road while I stared quietly out the window. Neither of us 

tried to force a conversation. 

The silence wasn’t awkward. 

It simply… existed between us. 

When the car finally pulled up outside Green Fairy, I unbuckled my seatbelt, ready to thank him and 

rush inside. 

But before I could open the door, Lucian spoke. 

“The place you mentioned going to before-the nightclub. Is this it?” 

I followed his gaze toward the shimmering sign above the entrance. 

“Yes.” 

I stepped out of the car. 

To my surprise, Lucian did too. 

“I’ll go in with you.” 

I looked at him. 

For a second, I was genuinely confused. Then it hit me. 

“This place only has male escorts,” I explained. “It’s more like a host club. There are no female escorts 

here.” 

“I’m not looking for a female escort.” 

His tone was so casual that I simply stared at him.

Oh? Karla suddenly sounded far more awake. Mr. Mysterious has secrets? 

I ignored her.

I had been living under the same roof as Lucian for days now, and nothing about him had ever

I wasn’t going to finish that thought. 

We walked inside together, and the moment Nyx spotted me, her expression lit up. 

Then she noticed Lucian. 

Her eyes widened. 

A slow, delighted smile spread across her face.

Before I could stop her, she came running toward me. 

“Ava!” she squealed, throwing her arms around me. “I’m so glad I made you my best friend. You’re 

such a good friend!” 

I narrowed my eyes. 

“What did I do now?” 

Nyx pulled back and openly looked Lucian over. 

“If you introduce someone this handsome to my store, I can make him my top star.” 

I closed my eyes. 

Of course. 

Realizing exactly what Nyx thought was happening, I immediately turned to Lucian. 

“I’m sorry.” 

Lucian didn’t look particularly offended, but I still quickly explained the misunderstanding to Nyx.

“Oh!” 

Her smile faded as she looked at him again. 

“So you must be Lucian. I’m sorry. I misunderstood earlier.” 

Lucian gave no response 

I watched Nyx carefully.

Either she genuinely had no idea who he was, or she had forgotten that the man standing in front of 

her was the Alpha of Blackwood Pack. 

To be fair, I hadn’t known what he looked like before I met him either. I had only heard his name. 

I leaned closer to Nyx and whispered something into her ear. 

Her entire face changed. 

Then, almost impressively, she straightened up and acted as though I hadn’t just told her anything. 

What would the Alpha of such a powerful pack be doing here, anyway? 

Was he in Ashwood for business? 

And if he was… how long was he staying? 

“Why did you bring your landlord here?” Nyx asked, pouting at me. “I don’t have any female escorts.” 

“He said he isn’t looking for a female escort. 

Nyx slowly turned toward Lucian. 

“Not looking for a female?” 

Her eyes widened. 

I stared at her. 

She stared at me. 

We were clearly thinking the exact same thing.

Karla. 

She trailed off, though I could practically feel the comments piling up inside her.

Still, the more I thought about it, the less sense it made. 

Lucian had been living with me for days, and he certainly hadn’t seemed interested in- 

I cut the thought off again 

The only other explanation was- 

He didn’t want me coming into Green Fairy alone.

Ever since I decided to divorce Logan, my mind had been inventing all kinds of strange ideas. 

Lucian and I had barely settled into our booth when the entrance opened. 

Logan walked in. 

My stomach tightened. 

His gaze swept across the room before landing on me. 

Then it moved to Lucian. 

I watched his steps slow. 

His eyes narrowed. 

Clearly, Logan didn’t recognize him. 

He had no idea that the man sitting beside me was the Alpha of Blackwood Pack-the very man a single deal with could potentially elevate Silvercrest’s status. 

I said nothing. 

And I certainly wasn’t going to use Lucian for status. 

But even without knowing who Lucian was, Logan could tell he was someone. 

His clothes. His presence. The way he sat there as though the entire room belonged to him. 

Everything about him drew attention without him even trying. 

And yes… 

Lucian had that naturally.

Logan frowned and walked toward us. 

“Ava,” he said. “I’ve come to pick you up.”

I was surprised-very surprised-that Lucian would suddenly hold my hand, especially with Logan, standing right in front of us. 

But I didn’t pull away. 

And Lucian didn’t let go. 

Logan’s expression darkened almost immediately. 

But there wasn’t much he could do. 

First, this wasn’t his pack. 

And second, even though he didn’t know it yet, the man sitting beside me was someone Logan would be very foolish to challenge. 

“Hey,” Logan snapped. “That’s my mate. Show some respect.”

I was about to explain the situation when Lucian spoke. 

His deep voice cut smoothly through the tension. 

“But Ava promised to open the wine for me, and it hasn’t been opened yet.” 

I blinked.

What? 

Was Lucian seriously using this situation as some kind of role-play to relieve stress from all his Alpha 

responsibilities? 

Logan frowned. 

“What kind of wine?” 

“Ace of Spades. Ten sets.” 

I slowly turned to stare at Lucian 

His answer came far too quickly. 

Nyx looked just as shocked as I felt. 

Opening an Ace of Spades wasn’t unusual at Green Fairy Wealthy guests did it often enough. 

But ten sets? 

Nyx had never seen anyone open ten at once. 

Logan looked at me in disbelief. 

One set alone cost at least three hundred thousand. 

Ten sets? 

Three million. 

I could practically see the calculations running through his head. 

Before he could say anything, Lucian spoke again. 

“Since this gentleman claims Ava is his mate, surely she won’t be paying for all of this herself?”

Logan looked at Lucian.

Before Nyx could even defend herself, Lucian calmly picked up the menu and handed it to him. 

“The prices are clearly listed. There is no deception here.” 

Then he leaned back slightly. 

“For his mate, surely three million is nothing.” 

Logan looked as though he had just walked straight into a trap. 

And he knew it. 

In the end, with Lucian watching him and Nyx standing there innocently, Logan had no choice but to 

pay. 

Three million. 

Just to take me home. 

Honestly, I didn’t care about Logan’s money. 

But I did enjoy watching him spend it. 

What surprised me was Lucian. 

He had absolutely no reason to dislike Logan. As far as I knew, they had never even met before 

tonight. 

Yet he had gone out of his way to make Logan part with three million. 

I stared at him as Logan completed the payment. 

Surely Lucian wasn’t hoping to get a commission from Nyx’s shop? 

Green Fairy had a system. If someone came into the club and bought drinks for you, you received a 

percentage as commission. 

Still… 

I couldn’t stop wondering why Lucian had done it. 

Why would a man like him care enough to make Logan spend that much money?
