Summary
After Alpha Claude brought his stepsister, who had lost her mate, and her child back to the pack, he put them above everyone else.
One stormy night, she said she was scared, so he left his asthmatic daughter home alone to stay with her and her child.
He’d promised to be at our daughter’s promotion ceremony. Then his stepsister called again, crying that her child had no father to accompany her.
Alpha Claude walked away without looking back.
I took my daughter’s cold hand and told her to cross Alpha Claude’s name off her emergency contact form.
She froze, then whispered that she didn’t want to.
It wasn’t until later that Alpha Claude finally felt guilty. He promised to make it up to her by taking her out on a yacht for her birthday.
He lifted her onto his shoulders and promised, with absolute certainty, “This time, I won’t let you down.”
But just as the boat was about to leave, his stepsister called, sobbing, “Claude, can you come to Family Day with us?
The other kids at camp keep making fun of Lily, calling her a fatherless bastard…”
Alpha Claude started walking before he could stop himself. When he looked back, his face was filled with regret.
He crouched down, ready to explain everything to our daughter.
She shoved him toward the exit, her face blank. “It’s fine, Alpha. A birthday is supposed to be spent with family. And Mom has always been my only family.”
