Chapter 334 The Agreement Garret Signed

The second vessel’s file remained open on the screen while Rhys checked the access log beside
Amara was my sister, and the records showed our separation had been planned and documented.
“Can you trace who uploaded this file?” I asked.
Rhys leaned closer to his monitor. “The archive restored it from a sealed directory. The original entry is older than F-Tech’s current system, so the timestamp only tells us when it was transferred, not who created it.”
“Then find the original.”
“I’m trying. The directory was locked with a family authorization code.”
“Whose code?”
“Your father’s.”
Garret had used F-Tech’s archive for family records, but he had never told me he stored anything about another child.
Damian stood near the office door, speaking quietly through the mind link with the warriors guarding the building. He ended the connection when he noticed my expression.
“What did you find?”
“Garret’s authorization code opened the directory.”
He joined me. “That doesn’t prove he knew what was inside.”
“I know.” I turned back to the screen. “But it means we stop treating him like someone who was kept in the dark.”
My wolf stirred at the name on the screen. She had reacted to Amara’s photograph too, and every new detail about our childhood made her more restless.
“Easy,” I told her under my breath.
Damian heard me but did not ask. He stood close without trying to direct me.

Rhys opened another section of the recovered directory. Several entries appeared, most of them marked as restricted.
One file had no title, only a date and a classification code. The date was from the year Amara disappeared from the official family records.
“Open it,” I said.
Rhys entered Garret’s code. The system rejected it once, then accepted a second authorization from the archive’s recovery process.
A scanned document appeared on the screen. Its first page contained a list of officials, a reference to the First Alpha bloodline, and a paragraph about the risk of keeping two vessels in the same territory.
I rubbed my forehead and read the paragraph again, searching for any phrase that might mean something else. There was none.
The formal wording stated that the second vessel was to be removed from Stonehedge under emergency protection. No destination or transfer team was named.
The document carried a classification mark that Rhys had not seen in the other files. He checked its code against the archive index and found that it had been filed under emergency relocation, not medical protection.
“Emergency protection,” I repeated. “They erased her from our records and called it protection.”
Damian moved closer to read the page. His expression hardened as he reached the final lines. “This could have been written after the threat against her became clear.”
“Then why hide it? Why declare her dead if she was being protected?”
He did not answer at once. I appreciated that more than another guess. We had enough theories. I needed proof.
Rhys scrolled down to the authorization section. The document listed two witnesses and one approving authority.
The signature field had been partly damaged during the transfer, leaving the name blurred at the edge. Rhys adjusted the contrast and ran the scan through the archive’s restoration tool.
The letters sharpened.
I had spent days listening to people explain what they knew, what they had su they had been ordered to forget.

My wolf had been quiet for most of the morning, but now she paced inside me, pushing at my control whenever I looked at Garret’s name.
Alpha Garret.
I stared at the screen. I knew his signature from company contracts, property documents, and the papers approving my first position at F-Tech. The long stroke beneath his surname was unmistakable.
“Could it have been copied?” Damian asked.
“It could,” Rhys replied. “I can compare it with verified samples. But the archive lists this as an original signed copy, not a later digital authorization.”
“Compare it,” I said.
Rhys began the check. Garret had signed the order before Amara vanished from the records and before the family accepted the story that she had died.
I had wanted answers about my sister, not proof that my father had helped take her away.
I remembered how Garret avoided my questions about the years before school. He told me I had been sick or that the memories were too painful to revisit.
I accepted those answers because he was my father, and I wanted to believe him for so long.
My wolf pushed against me, agitated and angry. A low sound rose in my throat before I could stop it.
The guards outside the office shifted in response; I heard their claws scrape the floor as their wolves reacted to the change in my scent.
“Keep the corridor clear,” Damian ordered through the mind link. His voice stayed low, but the Alpha command in it reached every wolf nearby. Their movements settled, though their attention remained on the door.
I drew a slow breath through my nose. I could smell paper, electronics, Damian, and Rhys. My anger had changed my scent, and any trained wolf would notice.
“Flourish,” Damian said, “we need to verify the signature before we decide what it means.”
“I’m not deciding what it means. I’m looking at what he signed.”
“You’re right.”
His agreement did not ease my anger. I had defended Garret and told myself his silence came from fear or an old promise.

But he had approved an order to remove my sister and allowed us to believe she was dead.
Rhys’s comparison finished. He turned the monitor toward us. The system marked the signature as a high-confidence match against three verified documents.
“It matches,” he said. “I can’t tell you what he knew when he signed it, but the signature is almost certainly genuine.”
I pushed away from the desk. My chair struck the cabinet. Damian reached for my arm, then stopped when I looked at him.
“I need to see the original.”
“The archive can request the physical file from secure storage,” Rhys said. “It may take time.”
“Request it now. And find every document linked to this authorization. I want the names of the witnesses, the transfer team, and whoever approved the false death record.”
Rhys nodded and began entering the requests.
I looked at my father’s signature again. Garret might never recover enough to explain himself, but that could not change the record. My father had signed the order that took Amara away, and I was furious with him.
