Chapter 340 The Pack That Refused
Lady Flourish POV
Rhys called while I was reviewing the latest reports from F-Tech.

We still had no clear explanation for how wolves listed as dead or missing had accessed dormant pack systems, and the investigation was growing more complicated by the day.
“One of the smaller packs in the First Alpha network has refused to activate its bloodline channel,” Rhys told me. “Their Alpha is afraid of Voss. He believes connecting to the network will expose his people to retaliation.”
“Arrange a meeting. I’ll speak to him myself.”
Rhys hesitated. “Wouldn’t it be safer to send representatives?”
“He might see a delegation as an attempt to pressure him. I want him to hear the offer directly from me.”
I informed Damian of my plans. He agreed to let me go with two Dartwood warriors, provided they remained outside the meeting room and kept in contact with our security team. I accepted his conditions and left shortly afterward.
The pack’s territory was small, with a central hall, a training ground, and a few residential buildings.
Several warriors waited at the entrance when we arrived. Their attention shifted to my escort, and I could smell their unease.
“Our Alpha is expecting you,” one of them said. “He requested that you enter alone.”

“My escort will remain outside,” I replied.

The warrior led me into a plain meeting room where the Alpha sat with two members of his council.
He rose when I entered, his wolf pressing against his presence as he assessed me.
“Lady Flourish, I appreciate your visit, but my decision stands. We will not activate our bloodline channel.”
“Then I won’t ask you to activate it.”
He looked at me with suspicion. “Why come here if you already know my answer?”
“Because I want to offer you another option.”
I took the seat opposite him. His council members remained quiet as I explained that F-Tech could provide protected communication, security upgrades, and emergency evacuation routes without requiring his pack to join a military alliance.
“You expect us to accept help from you and believe Voss won’t notice?” he asked.
“I can’t promise he won’t. I can promise that I won’t force your pack to declare allegiance to me or Damian.”
The Alpha shook his head. “You don’t understand what we’re facing. Voss has taken wolves from other territories. Some packs have lost their warriors, and others have disappeared completely. We’re too small to survive an attack from the Eastern Army.”
“I understand why you’re afraid. That’s exactly why I came. Refusing the channel doesn’t have to mean refusing every form of protection.”

One council member leaned forward. “And if we accept your help, will you expect us to fight when you call?”
“No. Your pack can remain neutral. We won’t demand warriors, political support, or access to your internal records. The security arrangements will be limited to what you approve.”
The second council member exchanged a look with the Alpha. “Voss could still see it as an act of defiance.”
“He may,” I admitted. “I won’t lie to you and pretend there is no risk. But you should be able to weigh that risk against what your people stand to lose without protection.”
The Alpha stood and walked to the window. Outside, two young wolves were training under an older warrior’s supervision. He watched them for a moment before turning back to me.
“You could gather the packs willing to follow you and leave the rest of us alone. Why bother with a pack that refuses to cooperate?”
“Because this network was never meant to force obedience. It exists to protect the bloodline and the packs connected to it. If I start demanding loyalty from frightened Alphas, I’ll be making the same mistake that brought us here.”
My wolf stirred at the mention of the bloodline, but I kept my attention on the Alpha.
“I don’t need you to kneel to me,” I continued. “I’m offering you a way to protect your people without surrendering your independence.”
He returned to his chair and spoke quietly with his council. Their disagreement was clear. One supported the offer, while the other worried that accepting anything from me would put their territory on Voss’s list.

Eventually, the Alpha faced me again.
“I will not activate the channel. I cannot risk exposing every family here because you believe the network can protect us.”
“I’m not asking you to activate it.”
“Then what do you want?”
“Allow F-Tech to establish a protected emergency line and prepare an evacuation route. You can review every detail before agreeing. Your bloodline channel will remain inactive, and your pack will not be required to join any alliance.”
He asked for the proposal in writing, including limits on F-Tech’s access and clear conditions for withdrawing from the arrangement. I agreed.
Rhys would prepare the documents, and the Alpha could review them with his council before making a final decision.
When the meeting ended, the Alpha walked me to the entrance. His warriors remained watchful, but no one challenged my departure.
I contacted Rhys from the vehicle and asked him to prepare the proposal. Before I could put my phone away, a message arrived from the Alpha.
He had agreed to the protected emergency line.
A second message followed.
“If Voss discovers we accepted your help, he will come for us first.”
