Chapter 1 

Eddie Lucero took care of me for six years but lost his sense of propriety after getting drunk once 

After waking up, I confessed my feelings to him, but to my surprise, he looked disgusted and 

avoided me like a snake or a scorpion from then on. 

I had been looking for him for three months when I bumped into him and his friends chatting and laughing at the bar. 

“Eddie, your goddess Arabella finally turned around, when did you get rid of the substitute girl?”

The wine glasses fell heavily, and Eddie spoke lightly.

I withdrew my hand in astonishment, wiped away a tear, and looked up to see Arabella Hodge 

walking towards me with a smile. 

“Kylie, Eddie and I are about to get married. Can you come?” 

I accepted the invitation, went back home to pack my luggage, and called Meadow. 

“Meadow, did the blind date partner you mentioned before, who wanted to marry me, get 

married?”

There came an incredulous voice of surprise from Meadow on the other end of the phone. 

“Kylie, have you changed your mind?” “All these years, didn’t you agree to live with your father’s friend? Why did you suddenly want to get married?” 

I smiled bitterly and said, “It’s nothing, I just suddenly thought about starting a family.” 

Meadow was thrilled to learn that I was willing to marry her and join the Jenkins family. She 

immediately arranged a plane ticket and accommodation for me. 

“Jaden went on a business trip and won’t be back for at least seven days. Come to Meadow’s place 

after seven days, and Meadow will cook delicious food for you.” 

Meadow’s words were filled with insincere flattery. Although I knew she was solely focused on

The nanny continued to take care of me. And from her, I learned that Eddie had been staying in another private villa for the past three months. 

“The villa was the wedding house that was bought for Ms. Hodge initially. The two of them were planning to get married, but they never expected that Ms. Hodge would suddenly go abroad.” 

“The marital home was always left untouched. Mr. Lucero wouldn’t let anyone touch it, only occasionally staying there for a few days.” 

“Now, I heard that Ms. Hodge has already returned to her country. Mr. Lucero must be very happy and has decided to settle down in that villa for a long time. Maybe in a while, the two of them will get married, and Mr. Lucero will consider it as his home!” 

The nanny excitedly talked non-stop, and I smiled bitterly and lowered my head.

In the study, I had seen Arabella’s photo. Eddie had placed that photo in the bottom drawer.

He would take it out from time to time and have a look.

I chuckled at myself, packed all those cute little things I had bought earlier into a box, and threw 

them into the trash can. 

Suddenly, the sound of a car parking outside the villa could be heard. 

Eddie came back. 

As soon as he entered the door, he noticed that the pink pillow on the sofa was missing, and the 

whole house felt particularly empty. 

“Kylie, has our house been burglarized?” 

I used to be particularly fond of these little things. Eddie indulgently watched me decorate the 

house in a pinkish tone. 

Now I know that he liked the kind of bright and generous mature woman like Arabella. 

That indulgent gaze only saw me as a child. 

I sniffed my nose and said, “Some useless stuff. I threw them away.” 

Sure enough, Eddie didn’t ask any further questions and stood there looking at me for a while. 

It took a long time before he suddenly spoke up, “Kylie, come’ with me to a party tomorrow.”
