I considered asking her politely.
A minute later, I was completely discarding the idea. No, I wasn’t here to plead. Nor was I here
to act like I was about to let her have her way. I’d given Sienna exactly three days since I’d
found her; enough time for her to reach a decision. Now I was standing at the door of her
cabin with my hands at my sides. I had no idea if she was inside, but I was only seconds away
from finding out.
I knocked once, forcing myself to wait for a response. There was none. The door didn’t open. I
stepped back, scanning the area. It was exactly the description my warriors had given. I
paused, sharpening my senses and listening for any indication she was in the house, anything
at all. Bingo. I detected faint shuffling, and suddenly it occurred to me that she was aware of
my presence.
I could smell her scent in the air, the faint trace of honeysuckle that drove me mad. I knocked
again. Twice. “I’m not leaving until we talk,” I said to the door, knowing she could hear me.
More shuffling. I glared at the wood. Gods, how easily she got me worked up. Was this really
what she planned to do? Hide behind the door so she didn’t have to face me? “I mean it,
Sienna.” I added firmly, realizing the truth in my words.
It surprised me how much I was willing to hang around the small cabin until she walked out.
For a moment, there was nothing. No shuffling, no sound of her breathing. I tried the door
handle. Locked. I was seriously debating pulling the doorknob when it twisted before me, the
door opening as she stepped out. She had her arms crossed over her chest, her expression one
of restrained fury.
She was so mad.
She shut the door behind her, heading towards the woods without so much as a backward

glance. I followed behind her, knowing she was only seconds away from exploding, and
probably didn’t want to disrespect whoever she was living with by doing so around the cabin.
“You must really hate me, Logan,” she seethed. “You must really hate me if you’re going
through this trouble just to antagonize me.”

Her voice was colder than I’d ever heard it.
She got to a small clearing and spun around, her eyes shooting daggers at me. “That’s not
what this is,” I said through gritted teeth, knowing this was going to be more difficult than I’d
thought.
She slapped her hands on her thigh. “Not what this is?” She echoed. “Could have fooled me,
Logan. You mean to tell me you’re not making a show of wanting me back, because you know
it’s the last thing that I want?” The ice in her tone could have frozen an entire ocean. I barely
held my tongue back from letting her know it wasn’t what she wanted. Not really.
Certainly, I wasn’t the only one feeling this maddening desire between us, even after all these
years? My feelings aside, there was a storm coming, and I’d be damned if I was going to let
anyone think they could use her to get to me. I took a step forward. She took one back. I drew
my brows together at the flash of fear that crossed her eyes before she masked it, the alarm
bells in my head immediately going off.
This wasn’t just her being wary of my touch.
Has something happened?
“No,” I said firmly in reply to her question. “Believe it or not, I’m not here because I’m trying
to make you miserable.”
“No,” She huffed with a shake of her head. “You’re here because you want to get me killed.” A
cold dread speared through me. Get her killed? She widened her eyes like she was only then
realizing what she’d said. I stretched my arm out, closing the distance between us,

“Logan, please.” She whispered, trying to move beyond my reach. I didn’t let her. I gripped her arm, gently pinning her against the trunk of a tree. She closed her eyes, bracing herself for… I
don’t know what she was bracing herself for. Her eyes drifted open when I only kept staring at
her. One locked stare, and she was breaking eye contact. “I don’t have the strength to stay
angry, or the strength to fight with you. Just let it be, please.”
I frowned, pushing her hair behind her ear. “What are you hiding?” I asked calmly, fighting the
urge to press my body against hers. The need to hear the little sounds of pleasure she made
whenever I licked between her legs. As though she could tell my train of thoughts, her breath
hitched. Her chest rose and fell very subtly, as she fought her reaction to our close proximity.
The way her eyes flickered, I knew she felt it too-the pull, neither of us could deny. “What are
you hiding?” I repeated. Her gaze fell to my mouth, and I almost lost it right then. For a
moment, all I could do was stare at her; her lips, so close and so tempting. She wasn’t telling
me to back off, wasn’t pushing me away. The tension between us was unbearable, and all I
wanted was to close the distance between us and-
She pushed away from me, and I let her. “I’m not hiding anything, Logan.” she finally
responded, but I didn’t miss the slight quiver of her voice; her failed attempt to get me to
change my decision. If anything, I was more determined to ensure she returned with me. At
the determined look on my face, some of her defiance returned. “I’m not going back to the
pack with you,” she said with finality.
I smiled sadly.
“If that’s how you want to play it, fine.” I said to her. “I’m not backing down. I’m going to give
you more time to realize that this is happening.” My voice was raw. “After that, whether you’ve
made peace with it or not, you’re going to return with me.”
She held my gaze for a few minutes, and then she wordlessly turned and left the clearing.
